1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Hi again, i upgraded my pc from Nvidia 660GTX to an AMD 470.
Also bought a new TV (LG 43LH5100).
So let's do Part 2 of minimizing input lag project.
Part1 can be found here http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/project-minimizing-input-lag.30681/

Tests as follows ( i was unable to force vsync through crimson drivers o_O)

    1. latency = 0, fullscreen off, vsync=off, lock off (166 fps )
    2. latency = 0, fullscreen on, vsync=off , lock off (171 fps )
    3. latency = 0, fullscreen on, vsync=on ( 60 fps )
    4. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=on ( 60 fps )
    5. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=off, lock at 63fps
    6. latency = 0, fullscreen on, vsync=off, lock at 60fps
    7. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=off, lock at 60fps
    8. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=on ( 60 fps ), VSR 1440p

So here is the video :

Also if someone wants to see it in his/her pc , here is the file https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1UNl21-h5iHUUd2dTlrcXpMN2M/view?usp=sharing

As always, i watched the video and counted the frames to see when the virtual wheel will move .
    Results :

    1. latency = 0, fullscreen off, vsync=off, lock off (166 fps ) - > 17 frames
    2. latency = 0, fullscreen on, vsync=off , lock off (171 fps ) - > 13 frames
    3. latency = 0, fullscreen on, vsync=on ( 60 fps ) - > 17 frames
    4. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=on ( 60 fps ) - > 13 frames
    5. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=off, lock at 63fps - > 12 frames
    6. latency = 0, fullscreen on, vsync=off, lock at 60fps - > 13 frames
    7. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=off, lock at 60fps - > 12 frames
    8. latency = 1, fullscreen on, vsync=on ( 60 fps ), VSR 1440p - > 13 frames

    Thanks.

The lowest result was 12 frames?

As it seems , AMD cards need Maximum frame latency=1 and also fullscreen rendering for minimum input lag.

Worth mentioning that crimson drivers won't corporate with AC for vsync (and maybe everything else) and that there is no pre-rendered frame setting in driver.

    What about your tv settings?

Maybe manually adding registry entries to adjust prerendered frames still work?

Tv's are not optimal for inputlag, far from optimal. If there is a gaming mode that could help.

What I mean is a tv might do some image prosessing and that could cost some time and add inputlag. a gaming mode should turn that image prosessing off

Your TV does have a game mode but with a latency of 30 ms I wonder if that's your biggest bottleneck.

Would be interesting if you could the same test you had your best result with but with a screen that has a latency of 5 ms or better.

My TV is already at game mode.

This is not the thing though.

I wanted to test the various settings of game.

    Monitor used is irrelevant.

You wanted to test the various settings of the game with the goal to get the least amount of visual lag, and there it matters to you if it's 13 or 14 frames. And then you buy a TV with a latency of 30 ms. One would almost think input lag is irrelevant to you and testing lag for the sake of it is. :D

Best monitors are around ~10-20ms , great ones are around ~30-40ms, so my TV with 30ms is actually more than fine http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/

So my attempt is to further reduce input lag, considering that i prefer playing with vsync on as i hate tearing.

Seeing that with Maximum frame latency=1 in graphics.ini gives exactly same results as vsync off, is a good start.

You need to delete the current default AC profile in the crimson settings because somehow it doesn't work and add it again manually by searching the game's executable. It should apply settings that way.

Thanks for doing another series of tests.
That matches my less scientific findings that with max prerendered frames set to 1 (latency=1), impact of VSync is pretty negligible to be an issue not only for sim racing but even for FPS games.

  15. My less scientific tests show that input lag is noticeable and FFB is "smoothed" with vsyncn on, so don't like it and prefer tearing ;)

    FFB "smoothed"? o_O
Physics is on its own thread and does not sync on refresh rate.
With FF_SKIP_STEPS=1 (default) is around 150hz, will go up to 333Hz if you set it to 0.

  17. Exactly my feeling (less detailed) - difference is very subtle but noticeable - had it on DFGT, the same feel on G27. Skip steps from long time set to 0

Without knowing their testing methodology, it is tough to make comparisons, but...

A "good" monitor like the Asus VG248QE has an input lag of 3.2ms. It has a rated response time of 1ms. There is zero chance any tv available gets anywhere near this.

This is not input lag. It's response time and has nothing to do with that. Actually it's a marketing trick and measures most of the time, the time needed for transition from a color to another ( grey to grey ).
Best monitors rated to 9-10 ms real lag.
