1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I don't play the 'career' in any racing games - I only race on-line - I find the challenge of racing against human drivers of varied skill levels exciting.. If I go into career (single player) I always find the AI are more stupid than the most stupid human, doing the same ( pretty much ) thing each time you race them - and for what? Please somebody explain - am I missing something?

Am I correct in thinking that in order to progress in Career, I need to do all 5 events? Including the "hopelessly driving around in circles like Clarkson because some people think it looks good" (drifting) and "the loneliness of the long distance runner" (time trial). Please say it isn't so.......

Pretty much agree, online racing with other decent racers and even better people you know you can trust to race fairly is always the best experience. Rivals and time trials can also be good on games with well defined track limits.

Only bit I don't agree with is that the AI are more stupid than the most stupid human - the AI never drive around the circuit backwards, wait in ambush or block the pit entrance etc etc etc. I know what you are getting at though, they can feel samey to race. The real shame is the latest AC AI on the pc version really do offer a decent race, they race wheel to wheel, leave racing room and they'll fight back after overtakes. Sadly the same can't be said for the on rails AI in the console release that glue themselves to the invisible line. Driving with random humans can be even more frustrating though in my experience.

Latest PC AI at 100% in VR offering some great close racing:

Have you tried the Career on F1 2016 or DiRT Rally, they are both games with career modes that are actually worth playing. All the same I still agree that online racing with people of similar skill are racing games at their best.

Yes I have got Dirt rally and its very good -hard to drive but rewarding... I'm a bit too old for F1 I just haven't got quick enough reactions. Don't get me wrong, I haven't really tried AC Singleplayer, a few races, I'm just trying to fill my time at the moment - and maybe develop some interest in singleplayer, but I think you are right. Until the technology exists to make the AI more human its not for me. Lets hope the development of AC will bring the level of AI on console closer to that of pc. I know AC is a simulator and therefore is different to the sort of games I'm used to and as such offers a different experience. As tberg says I think I answered my own question.... thanks gents

Online = Destruction derby, the A.I can drive better than most humans i have raced online with.

I respect your opinion, but I strongly disagree here.
Maybe your AI settings are too low...
At 100% AI may still not be the best, but decent, be it too slow to give real competition. Possibility to move the slider up would be welcome.

Edit: just saw I was in the X-box section, so maybe my conclusion does not stick for the console AI, I'm on PC.

I'm just happy that ai is there when there's no one to race against in a certain series/track combo that i'm in the mood for.
My main grief with them is that they all seem to be at the same skill level and they make a train caravan in most cases.
Nothing is more rewarding than wining online race with skilled human opponents.

I heard Stefano talking about the difficulty of how to make the AI more varied in their driving and how when the AI 'learned' they would just go faster and faster. I'm sure they are always looking for ways to develop AC but this is a hard one... and like you say it is fun to harass the AI's in a quick race - for a laugh
