But yes if DLC wouldn't restrict joining servers, it would need to be encrypted and protected very well. Not some line in .ini

For the price of 1 car and all season tracks in iracing, you will be able to race any car and track from any AC dlc present and future. Plus, you can have a different car make for every available slot and not just 5.

 

If the game doesn't do well on consoles it means far less content in the future for PC. The reason we have a lot of the licenses that we do is because of the funding Kunos received for the console versions from 505.

 

Doesn't matter to me in the way, that console version will be always inferior. Worse graphics, not even close to full grid, no mod support, no triple screen support, no custom PP or sound mods, no Minorating, helicorsa, SRS, RSR... nothing. If they get more cars for same price, who cares. They have to "compete against" Forza and Gran Turismo, so they put all cars in they can.

But, it should matter to everyone here, in another way. In the way revenues affect directly also our sim's future, possible upcoming track/car licenses and possibility for AC2 some day.

No. What I posted is exactly what the devs have said when people criticize the console version. It's been mentioned in various interviews. Some is from building relationships, but it's certainly not the sole reason.

Oh, they better... Not everybody is fully aware of every little detail. When I bought Gran Turismo 6, it was my first foray into "sim racing". I didn't play any other games - just happened to have been given a PS3 that was collecting dust. Anyway, when I bought GT6 I didn't even know there were different editions of the game. I just walked into GameStop, asked the 35 year old virgin nerd behind the counter if they had "Grand Tourismo, the new one..." and went on my way. Some came with like 25 15th Anniversary cars (thankfully that's the one I got), some versions only came with 5 of those anniversary cars. Some editions came with no Anniversary cars, but they came with a code to give you like 1,000,000 credits for purchasing cars.

I would have been really ticked off once I became more familiar with the GT6 scene that I was missing out on all these special edition cars because there was no other way to obtain them. It wouldn't be the end of the world, however, because there were like 1,000 other cars in the game. In Assetto Corsa's situation, they really need to have some way for people to obtain the Prestige Pack cars at some point in the future. There aren't 1,000 other cars in AC. Every car really, really matters if you want to go online MP or even just enjoy SP with all the awesome vehicles Kunos has built for AC.

It didn't look like a joke to me and why even joke about something like that while writing a Sim Racing Post in this forum? That would be completely out of context. At best a joke at someone else's expense. But I suppose you're another internet ego driven person that behind the pen can make themselves look big and tough.

As far as my background it's mixed and varied but I'm a small business owner and was an army officer probably before you were born

There's also Historic Monza combined road course and oval as well as Monza Junior.

I assume Monza Junior will be the modern rather then the historic version.

Talking of Monza Junior, I am still curious to know why we are unlikely to see Barcelona National and Zandvoort National tracks. Maybe it's a licence problem again? Whatever the case, it's more than a little disappointing.

 

I'd rather see the older Silverstone layout.

 

I think that historic Silverstone has already been confirmed.

 

I personally can't wait for the old Silverstone, as we don't really have any tracks other than Monza 66 and the Nords that suit the old cars we have.

I have a bit of a thing about driving cars at the circuits that were around then, and the old Silverstone layout was used (with only pitlane modifications) from 1949 to 1974!

That means all these cars could have driven Silverstone in that form;

I've heard flight sim developers comment that special additions are part of the deal if you want certain large retailers to stock your product. It doesn't surprise me at all that this is happening with AC, it's just the way it is.

There are 2 additional layouts still active at Barcelona, Club and National. It looks like they could run both at the same time.
