Tranny engage

So far I love Assetto Corsa, especially the car/track feel.
One thing I can't figure out is how to engage the transmission before the race start lights go out.
I have a Logitech G29. (setup 2)
Automatic gearbox = OFF
Automatic clutch = OFF or ON (either case works the same)

I just have to continuously repeat click the up shift paddle until I see it go into gear, and then hit the foot feed (gas). Makes for a poor start.

 

This was only fixed in the 1.8 patch on PC, which took them years to do. It should be fixed soon on console but we don't know when.

 

The best start you can make for now (until the devs add the chance to engage a gear before green lights) is:
- wait until 4 of 5 red lights turn on (5 of 5 would be better for engine/fuel, but start at 4th light for first times)
- floor throttle
- engage the gear when the lights turn off
It should be faster this way, cause you raise engine RPMs before engaging, letting automatic clutch (and TC if any) take care of the rest.

 

You can actually engage first gear before the lights go green, your driver will just wait till green until he actually shifts, but he does, reliably. Makes for much faster starts than when you try to shift after the green light comes on. Step by step:
1. Press clutch
2. Engage first gear (either H-pattern or sequential)
3. Rev up the engine and wait for green.
4. Green, green, green! Driver shifts into first gear automatically, you just have to release the clutch as you see fit.
