Generic You cant put 10lbs of gears in a 5lbs gearbox!

There has been a lot of requests for features that other console games have that AC doesn't.
Now I am not talking about some of the things that need to be sorted out, that the small team at Kunos Simulazioni is working on.
Let me try and put it in a little perspective and simplify it. There is a saying out there, and I am sure many of you know it, " You can't put 10lbs of ....... in a 5lb bag" hence my take on it
You cant put 10lbs of gears in a 5lbs gearbox!

There are several titles out there on the consoles that have features that are lacking in AC however there is a major one that AC has that the others only have in smaller amounts. Now on-top of this there is a huge difference in staff between the diffrent dev teams.

Let me explain a bit here:

1. The Car -Lets call this the Sim, Arcade, Simcade or whatever you wan to call them :
   • • Assett Corsa
       
     • Forza
     • Gran Turismo
     • Project CARS
     • Automobilista
     • and many more
   
   
2. The Gearbox -Lets equate the Console and PC to a box (in my case a gear box) :
   • • The PC however comes in loads of sizes, some small some really big and can be modified at will
     • The Console gear box is a fixed size and only changes every several years
   KS and P CARS have done a great job of fitting everything into the Console gearbox but had to make compromises but still keep the essence of their game. P CARS had to drop the Wii port because the gearbox was too small.
3. The gears - These come in all sorts of sizes, are the features like :
   • • Physics
     • Graphics
       
     • Number of cars
     • Tyre model
     • Tracks
     • Track side details
     • Environment
     • Weather
       
     • Tuning
     • Livery painter
4. The Mechanics - The dev teams
   • • As I mentioned before there are a huge difference in the size of the teams
     • They specialise in diffrent gear departments

Now the mechanics have to make some decisions what to put in their 5lbs gear box and it is quite logic that they tend to choose more of what they specialise in into their gearboxes
AC choose to put a lot more of bigger physics gears into their gearbox but have a bit of a problem they are a small team so they only have a small quantity of car, track, and other gears. Everything fits
Forza and GT have many mechanics and therefore can build many more car and track gears but have to limit the size of physics gears.
P CARS mechanics have preferred to go the graphics route.

Now folks if you want all of the features
YOU CANT because:
You cant put 10lbs of gears in a 5lbs gearbox! no matter what car you drive. Technology is not here yet for that, it could in the future.

If you want more of what the one set of mechanics offer stick with them! If you want it all right now you will have to get more than one car and take them to the diffrent mechanics because you can't drive more than one care at a time.

Another thing before you dive head first into asking for something that is not there do your research!
by this last statement what I mean read the forums there are loads of info and reasons for things and more than likely you will find your answer. If you do not find your answer and feel the need to ask,
Ask politely with respect! there are a lot of PC folks here that are willing to answer your questions even if you are a Console or new gamer.
BTW Kunos Simulazioni have eaten a lot of "humble pie", they have made wrong choices or mistakes and have sorted things out for their polite users.

He must be the voted PC forum representative to come over here, besides his English struggle he seems to be the brightest spark to have graced our console forums to date.

Don't worry because on top of the OP's topic apparently you can't check or doublecheck your gears before you put them together either, nor can make sure that they mesh well and don't blow synchros. You can't make sure they don't bind up and lock up completely either. But I guess that's what happens wen you buy cheap parts and have inferior mechanics. It's the one behind the controls that makes the mistakes.

 

This was meant to be a light hearted take on it, I apologize if it has come across as a PC vs Console. Don't you worry there are PC gamers that don't get the big picture either when it comes to the Sim-Simcade-Arcade argument
Very often both sides tend to land up throwing mud at each other after one or the other makes an impulsive statement. All this does is polarises the community.
It seems in this thread a small splattering of mud has been sent my way. Yeah! I admit my english is not the greatest.
BTW I spent years playing Forza 4 racing in leagues and would have loved to have had something like AC's physics.
Yes I at some folks on both sides for starting the mud flinging in the first place.

 

I never hear console players throwing mud at PC about how superior their stuff is even though I keep seeing t300 and t500 in every pc sig viewable so far... But in reverse, it seems to never stop even when we've won the marketing war already. Nobody in the social world cares about PC games, that's why you only see Xbox and Playstation on TV. That's why if AC was at a certain level that it currently isn't on console, it would sell probably 3 times the amount that PC has in how many years now.

 

I think eSEA is trying to tell us that his new boyfriend has a 10lbs driveshaft and he has a 5lbs, shall we say exhaust. I notice he doesn't mention lubrication of the 'box and some lube would probably mean he could at least get a couple more lbs in. All said in friendly jest just like the op of course...

I'd suggest you take your own advice eSEA and do your research before you dive in. There are many differences between the console and PC versions including a number of difficulty changes.

Seriously some of the PC gamer comments in this forum are letting the side down. No need for all these platform wars. Your gearbox might be bigger but it doesn't much matter if you don't know how to waggle your stick eh I notice you also don't mention how often you fiddle with your gearbox to get it working properly. Consoles exist for a reason, notice for example how we are having to type this rather than really talk to each other...

 

As far as the mud flinging it comes from both sides. I am sorry to say your post is exactly that. BTW the signed info is not posted for showing off. It is there to give the dev team and anyone willing to help out, the systems information without having to ask a multitude of questions.

If you intended your OP as genuine information why use an arrogant title clearly biased toward the capacity of the pc? Showing off is exactly how it comes across, or maybe click bait. You can also read your post as playing down the issues the game has launched with on console, a trend in these forums. We get that you love the game bu blind defensiveness helps no one. Unless you actually are one of the devs this is all more hot air and opinion from the pc lobby.

First of all you have got to be as blind as all the other folks who want more on the console than it is clearly not capable of. In my OP I clearly state "I am not talking about some of the things that need to be sorted out" I am certainly not playing down the issues just stating the fact that the consoles are a fixed capacity and there is nothing wrong with that, in fact that is a good thing, it makes it affordable to a lot of people. But when folks want the amount of cars like Forza and GT or the weather and graphics in ProjectCARS in a game that prides itself on the simulation of the physics of driving something has to give. I think KS has some balls to put AC on the console, there were some folks on the forums who were quite opinionated about a disaster looming with this move, I was not one of them but now I see where they are coming from, some of the console users who rant on spoil it for all.
If all you can afford is a Golf GTI you can not expect it to go the speed of a Bugatti.
I have a moderate level PC, I just live with the fact that I can not achieve the full graphics level that AC can achieve. I lower my graphic setting , race with a smaller number of cars and take it that at the starts I am going to suffer from frame rate loss. I do not cry out that the game is flawed.
What I do do is find some extra work in my spare time to make some cash to upgrade this has been going on since I played Forza 4 on the Xbox 360 in fact that is how I bought the 360 in the first place

 

Which console version have you tried to be able to make these comparisons? The game is flawed on console - AI, difficulty levels, career/special events general performance, the Eurogamer/Digital Foundry and IGN reviews all represent quality objective perspectives. You seem to suggest people shouldn't complain because it is ruining your experience of the game on pc somehow? I've praised the pc version many times, it is superb and the physics on the console version are also superb. The rest of the console experience leaves a lot to be desired.

Good luck with the pc upgrades, that is exactly why many console owners don't own a pc. I think you'll be much more content posting back in the pc section where you should find more agreement.

 

No I have not tried any console version.
I do read the forums so am aware of the issues.
Where have I disagreed to those facts? Can you find one instance where I disagree with any of them?
I truly understand the frustrations console gamers are having with the real issues, KS is working hard on these issues.
Yes KS are humans and have made mistakes and yes they might have been naive. They might not have done this the perfect way but they have done a first on the consoles. Breaking new bounders has often lead to unexpected results. KS had a lot of flack (from "I WANT I WANT crowd) when they delayed the launch, then when they do they get more from the "I WANT I WANT crowd again (No I am not talking about the AI, difficulty levels, career/special events general performance issues) You damned if you do you damned if you don't
I am just tried to make folks who complain that AC should have this and should have that when it is just not possible.
I am also tired of folks (both sides of the fence) who have this animosity against each other just because they have something diffrent from one another.
I don't think anything less of my son who prefers driving in arcade games like GTA5, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Track Mania over AC. I do not have anything against someone who has a rig that costs 10 times more than mine.
Yes you are absolutely correct, the physics are tops but that there are issues. It is similar on the lower end PC too

Nothing wrong with a 5lbs gearbox unless you put faulty gears in it.
And all the gears in this game except for the handling model are flawed.
And to be honest I feel robbed.
The multiplayer without private lobbies is just wrong. Getting shunted in the first corner every time gets my blood boiling.
And unfortunately the a.i. is just as awful.
I can live with lesser graphics and cars.
If the gearbox isn't strong enough to hold the gears the shouldn't have bild this gearbox
