1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

2 dumb setting questions...

    Watching some iRacing videos I noticed that they were running very wide Virtual Mirror FOV. After some searching I see that this is also possible in AC via the cfg files.

    Is there a way to turn off the in car mirrors and just use a high detailed Virtual one??

    Not related at all but, is a there a way to force Penalties always "ON" in carreer mode? I hate having to reload everything every time I forget to check this settings.

    Thx!

    Are you talking about the rear view mirror at the top? If so, you press F11 ingame.

    Yes iracing's virtual mirror is wider than in AC. It gives better lateral view of the cars behind ours. Maybe either make it wider in AC or add 2 side virtual mirrors, slightly tilted down, to give better visibility of what's happening on the rear sides of our car. If is to be added 2 extra side virtual mirrors, F11 could be used to cycle between off, 1, or 3 virtual mirrors.

    I know about F11.

    If you go to x:\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\
    there is a file called assetto_corsa.ini with the following default values:
    [MIRRORS]
    FOV=10
    FAR_PLANE=400

    If I set values to 60/600 I get the following result (see image), which is similar to what I saw in the iRacing videos. It is the first time I edit the values btw; even if I see the opponent's car in my mirrors, it is effectively next to me, as shown by Helicorsa. IMO default value should be higher than 10, specially for online racing. I will continue testing this to see what I like.

    Of course, the screenshot removes all my AC apps, including Helicorsa and Virtual Mirror, which is also affected by the values I changed.

    Going back to my question, is there a way to turn off the car mirrors, in order to keep just the virtual mirror, a not waste GPU power rendering 3 different ones. Even if that's not the case, it is distracting enough having a cut mirror on the screen. In LFS you could move the default ones around to fit your field of view.

    Btw, I like the idea of mirror cycling as the simplest solution, all on the F11 key, including virtual and car defaults, with 3 or more combinations.

    Not possible atm for the user to close car mirrors and only use virtual mirror. The optimal would be a button that lets you cycle through car mirrors, car mir+virtual, middle virtual only, 3 virtual (middle and 2 top side virtual like in some other games, which are slightly tilted down like a side mirror). Having 3 virtual mirrors (with car mirrors off) I think would help visibility in racing a lot, as I find only the middle virtual inefficient, and depending on the car, its mirrors aren't easy to use.
    But I'll try the 60fov mirror tip with 600 far plane.

    edit, 60fov mirror is definitely not good, is too zoomed out and you don't see any cars, then suddenly they are next to you and overtaking. Between 10-18 is good.

    Yup, I like that mirror cycling idea. Was too sleepy last night to elaborate on it.

    Again, 1st time I change the mirror FOV. Went with an extreme value just to see how much it changed. I still use the default track map and helicorsa for further opponent awareness. I still think 10 is too low. Maybe set default to 15 and insert FOV slider in the menus.
