458 v F40 Lap times.

According to this http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/fiorano.html

The F40 lapped Fiorano in 1.29.6 and the 458 in 1.25.00 (ie 458 Italia is 4.6seconds quicker)

(Now, I've always wondered about that table, unconvinced that there should be 5secs between a 348 and a 355 and that the 288GTO should sit in betweeen but anyway.... )

Using the RSR Timing app, and choosing the 4 circuits I've driven the most on - below are the number 1 times for each car..





Simple question ... how come the in game times are so close?
Is it just the "semi-slicks" that are flattering the F40?
Or Fiorano so unrepresentative of "real" tracks?

 

We don't know what tires the driver used for this laptime, but at best they are '87 tires.

 

Most probably (almost sure) the best times was set on semislicks. Try to do comparision yourself on street tires (90s for F40) on some tracks and share the results.

 

I'm surprised the F50 was faster than the F40......I could have sworn that back in the day that one of the (many) knocks on the F50 was that it was slower than the F40.

Also there is no telling what tires the 458 was on either.

 

It would be awesome if we get the F50 or better yet the F50 GT!!! - I always preferred the F50 to the F40

Agree F50 always lived in F40 shadow , I think it's even more special car, sounds so much better, is better drivers car, and much more rarer then F40

Good call, have only had the chance to do 5 or 6 laps round Mugello in the F40 on 90's tyres but am 5-6secs slower than my best F40 on Semi-Slicks (probably a bit less if I did a few more laps))
- so all in all - gut feel* it looks like on period tyres my results are similar to those Fiorano times.

(* havent done anywhere near enough for a proper comparison, just a gut feel for now)

I wasnt doubting the game, more the lapchart figures (for 355 v 348 v 288GTO reasons) , but as was pointed out above, each recorded lap would have been done on period tyres.
