1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic A little better graphics (For Dev)

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by evgenyserdyuk, Sep 28, 2016.

  1. Hello!
Because the consoles are nota very strong iron,I think that we do not get the same graphics as the PC.
But I have some suggestions to mask some of the shortcomings of the game.
We need to add chromatic aberration and motion blur.
It is not very demanding of effects, but the hide shortcomings of the graphics, especially during movement.

This is evident in such games as Dirt Rally and Project Cars.
Until you eat it all looks good.
I know that many do not like chromatic aberration, so I suggest making it optional, that people would be turned off.
Personally, I like it, it masks low resolution textures, and attaches to the lens effect.

Huh. I thought the console version already has chromatic aberration (and motion blur too)? It's enabled by standard on PC despite people asking for a long time to make it a setting in the menu, not just in the pp preset .ini's.

I personally really don't think it has a place in games that aim to have a realistic look but I recognise that people have different preferences (which is why it really should be optional).

As for motion blur... generally an effect that is way overdone in games and that I always disable. But in Assetto Corsa (on PC) it's so good and subtle enough that I have it enabled and it really does look better with it.

I'm sorry but im fairly certain there is no situation on this planet where chromatic aberration services as a benefit. its a visual defect which just needs to stay dead. I can understand motion blur but chromatic aberration is just flat out bad.

  5. I think Chromatic aberration should be forced on. It's the best thing since sliced bread.

JK ... You know the concept of OPTIONS, right?

The motion blur was so bad/extreme when pCARS launched that it was making people sick because of all the ghosting it created. That's why they added the Temporal slider and changed the default to 20, and not 100 which it was before. More jaggies appeared but the ghosting went away. We don't want that kind of thing happening so let's just see if they can sort out the screen tearing and FPS first before asking for more visual options (of course the more options the better, but pCARS is not a good example of motion blur, whereas something like DOOM is).

I did a benchmark with no motion blur vs max (12) and it cost 18 fps on the average. I wonder if the console version can afford to add more motion blur than it already is since it seems to be somewhat demanding.

Yeah I think kunos are struggling as it is with their performance ceiling as it is right now.

For replays and spectating all kind of effects can be nice. While driving I don't know why some wants to have "looking through camera" effects/limitations.

We've always postulated that someone, somewhere, must actually like chromatic aberration.

    We found him! :D

The rest of us can't turn it off fast enough. It's awful.

Do you also have something harder (that's what she said) to base your claims on? You don't even state how you generated those screens and how much the performance difference was in an A/B comparison.
You once opened a thread to show the difference between AC's reflections on PS4 vs. XBone but the screens you posted there were generated on PC - the one that's supposed to show PS4 with some very high and the XBone one with very low reflection settings.

All this doesn't exactly help your credibility, especially since you obviously are hoping for a dev reply. Be sure that a thread with non-backed claims and screens with no background information whatsoever will be ignored by them.

  15. I'm not expecting a response from the developers. I just want to make this game a little better. These screenshots are made on a PC as an example, as well as screenshots comparing the PS4 and XBOX.
I also know that a small amount of chromatic aberration, help with anti-aliasing, without sacrificing performance.
Blur in motion just to pick up a lot of resources strongly if its not set to maximum. Low values almost does not affect FPS.

I could pretty much re-post the exact same answer from before now but I'll just leave it.

I appreciate your endeavours to make the game better. Good luck with that.
