1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

ai personalities (differing skill levels)

Is this still on the cards? i remember it being mentioned in a stream a while back

After watching empty box latest vid:

I was thinking that atm qualifying against ai in ac feels pointless apart from to work out if you need to lower the difficulty slider or not, but if the ai were all of different skill levels, the qualifying would become very valuable as emptybox describes, and surely yield much more interesting races by starting a race between people of better and worse skill, rather than all the same.

If it is to be implemented, I suppose it would be necessary to have some solution in place for quick races so as not to end up with the slow guys at the front of the grid as I imagine that would make for a pretty bad first lap or so

Also the comment in the video about setting ai to 120% and the ai being able to rocket past you on straights at impossible speeds made me more appreciative of the ac approach of using player physics rather than simplified model. i originally thought it was too big an undertaking (especially for one guy who is responsible for the rest of the game too) but as of ac 1.4 i think its definitely paid off, especially having been annoyed by ai in pcars being able to cheat through corners way faster than me, not being affected by weather in the same way as the player, and other sims allowing ai to gain a ton of straight line speed.

Would love more ai variety per session. Especially for virtual trackday.

You can edit the AI in rfactor 1+2 and GSCE in many ways (talent files, plr files, editing fast path for the tracks etc) which can result in – at least for me – some good offline AI races.
I wish something like that would be possible in AC, in case it isn’t already?

Well, you can edit some driver ini files, but I wouldn't want to do that because of the problems it might cause going from trackday to race situations. Since AC should be geared to racing first, better to err towards that IMO.

Hmm, you could create your own varying AI drivers and attach them to streetcars only by editing the UI file in the cars' skins', right? Just don't use drivers that might show up in a race car?

I thought there was a little difference between AIs in AC. I doubt having a wider range of AI ability could do much help since if the grid spreads out way too much it might feel a bit more like common track days other than racing events I guess?

  6. Indeed there is, or they would be lapping incredibly close laptimes. What's needed is variation in how drivers approach different things such as braking, or a particular corner in a particular track.. which is all very cool, but it makes the testing process a nightmare because you end up with an infinite amount of situations and can't prove the thing will work in every single one.

ah very cool, thanks for replying btw. just to confirm, the current variation in skill is carried over from quali to race, yeah? if so i guess emptybox's tip is also very applicable to ac and the qualify session should be quite useful, especially in making the first lap better.

what about the special events, career events where it is just a quick race and you start from the back of the grid, are the ai in any particular order in terms of skill level?

    cheers

I also would like to know that, because thinking about a specific car driven by a specific driver (for example Lotus 98T), would be nice to have the Senna's behavior or at least his level (as in the special event), because there is a big difference between Senna and Dumfries.

If one day we have a way to add this in the UI of the skin/driver as the rfactor, would be great. So for the each skin you could determine your natural performance.
