1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Changing gear on manual trasmission cars

    Hi guys,
i have a simple question, what is the best way to change gear in cars with manual transmission?
I mean, i have a wheel without clutch, and i don't know if it is faster to change without releasing the throttle or not (in real life, when i press the clutch i obviosly release the throttle).
    What about that?

from what I experienced so far is that you have to lift, as you otherwise overrev the enginge and risk wheel spin.
Never had that in any other racing game, it's great realism

@Herian It depends on the car. Some cars like the Formula Abarth or Ferrari 599 don't require you to lift the throttle. You just need to hear the engine and see if you're overreving when you don't lift off the gas. It's as simple as that.

    This.

If you're driving a car like an E30 M3(any), the 1M, Z4 , E92 M3 streetversions and the F40 the shift from first to second is : Lift it.

The next gears ( from my experience) are just staying ptm and shifting.

Downshifting requires a different approach: In those cars mentioned above: (Brake whatever) shift down AND at the same time push the throttle( 2 pedal sim layout) to keep the gearing in line with the power to the wheels: thus not shiftlocking.(Locking the rear wheels due to too much torque at the wheels at an instant, many times resulting in a spin, hence special event E30 M3 Mugello lol)
or heel and toe(3 pedal sim layout) .

    Cheers
    Robin

I would rather say you can max not lift from 2nd to last gear to the last gear, but even then you should, just to get used to it.
Otherwise, if you shift up in a bend, you risk kicking out your rear.

yep just make sure you lift if you are shifting while cornering.
It sounds really bad and ruin the immersion for me to not lift and sound like a maniac who stole a car, but it hurts my foot after a while if I lift every time I shift.
So my "workaround" is to shift only when you are about 100rpm from the rev limiter, so you won't have the change up in pitch when you shift. I tested it a few times on the drag strip with various cars and it absolutely doesn't slow you down to drag the rpm to the rev limiter (without staying on the limiter of course).
Little secret no one will tell you - disable auto clutch. You can shift normally without it, and the engines in the game are like electric engines, they can start from 0 rpm without a starter if you spin or something. Not disabling auto clutch will delay your shifts enough to screw your lap times, and it is much much worse when downshifting (takes 1+ second to engage the gear and you need another downshift before it even engaged usually).

I think when the damage and failures engine is implemented you will find this technique will murder your clutch, I have been practising gear shifting heavily because this can take about 1/2 second out of your laptime if done correctly. You can see why engineers developed double clutch paddle shift gearing, manual is so lethargic.

This weekend I will be playing with power tools to re-mount my pedals to enable me to H&T so hopefully I will still have limbs intact to continue playing! :eek:o_O

damage to the clutch ?
How could it get damaged without using it ? It could only damage the gearbox because it takes all the load the clutch should.
I believe in the final release of the game you just won't be able to shift without clutch, now you can do that perfectly (never fails) if using sequential shifting but when using an h-shifter you won't get in gear if you don't rev-match...
I really hope the super slow auto clutch BS will be removed when this happens, I don't have a place to mount my h-shifter so I will have to give up commenting RSR records at least in that case.
