1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

    Hey everybody!
3rd video in the Go Faster series.
This time a short prologue and demonstration of the very complex and long to analyze subject of "Weight Transfer"

Weight transfer is indeed one of the most complicate aspects of driving and handling. We try to approach it with an simplified and easy to understand demonstration and then on later videos we will go deeper in the subject and try to showcase what happens while driving.

Hope you will enjoy it, as usual, let's keep the discussion going!

Awesome video, explained really simply, lateral weight transfer is a bit more complicated when topic about suspension stiffness merges in. Really looking forward to the main video. This was fun and educating, thanks :)

Lol, I remember several years back understanding why cars lean forward when braking, but not understanding why leans backwards while accelerating - the mysteries of my own stupidity.

I think vega555 will find this very interesting :D

  4. It's interesting that you mention "leaning forward when braking", because I have noticed that the "rock back" when a car finally brakes to a standstill does not happen in AC. It would be nice to have that simulated. A minor point, but stated in the name of realism ;)

So if I understand well, the longer are the corners(high radius), a softer suspension is better?

This is just the introduction to the principles of weight transfer, it's not just yet about what suspension setup is better in which situation.

But to give you at least a general idea about that:
Once you drive through a long turn the car is pretty much settled and the main things here are bumps during the turn that can unsettle the car.

The harder/softer suspension is more about the moment you brake, go off the brake, turn-in and start to accelerate.

A softer suspension is more forgiving to the driver, you have more time to react to things that unsettle the car, but you have less precise feedback of what the car is doing and how it reacts to the track surface and weight transfers.
A harder suspension will give you more precise feedback, but you also have to be quick with your reactions to the car.

In the end, like Aris said, it's a balancing dance to find a compromise of hard enough for good feedback, but not so hard that the car gets unsettled easily and you have trouble to keep control or can't catch oversteer.

Probably yes, you should have made good conclusion, probably :D Really looking forward to the main video.

But if I'm right when track has mostly long big radius curves it is always better to use softer ARB setting, and when the track has more tightness, then harder ARB settings are better. At least it seems like this gives good results for laptimes and handling to me :D I didn't understand whats the relation between front and rear arbs, IIRIC they affect each other a lot, but I don't understand how.

Maurizio has more simulation value than AC.

Good video Aris, looking forward to the in-game or real car video related to weight dynamics.

  16. Front and rear arb are totally independant components on the car. They obviously affect eachother in some way since they change the roll stiffness of the front or rear axle which can give you a balance shift one way or the other (or even just in certain parts of the corner in some cars), but there's no physical relation between the front and rear arb.

It's also not just a thing of, short corners = stiff arb because what you are essentially doing is making your sophisticated independant suspension... less independant :D

Maurizio was surely only chosen by Aristotelis so he can show off his thicker hair and fitter body, while Maurizio must fill in as the little pasta fed Italian :D

Another informative video and your having a laugh at the same time, but....

time for some constructive criticism I'm afraid.
The videos are too short, you need to tell us more.... I need to know more... :p

Cheers Aris, loving the Vids, keep them coming
