How to do a clean install of ac?

Hi all.

Am a PC noob, so please bare with me.

I wish to do a clean install of AC because my 3rd party app/cars/tracks seem to fail now the game is up to date.

The game runs OK when not using the out dated mods but my folders are all over the place. (bad installation by me..lol)

Have folders showing like content and apps in my UI general settings menu. When I remove the folders in the explorer it fails to run the game.
Have folders with content - apps / python/ apps / python (with no files in????)
Spend hours moving (deleting and re storing) folders when the game didn't launch anymore.
Was trying to get spotter v1.2.1 running. (know now its not compatible with 64bit yet).
Helicorsa was the only mod that still worked ok.

My aim was/is to do a clean install and start again with fresh mod content.
I have a couple of noob questions.

1- How to do the clean install?
2-Will all my purchased DLC still update/load via steam ok?
3-Is this a risky procedure or should I just leave it as is, and try and sort out the bad folder management and duff mods? (bare in mind my ltd IT skills).

Apart from the cluttered UI, the game runs fine unless I try using modded track/car/app.

Just right click the game in Steam, delete local game content. That will remove all official files related to AC.
Then browse to the steam folder, by default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ and delete the folder called assettocorsa.
Then to remove any settings, go to your My Documents folder and delete the Assetto Corsa folder.

Now just click Assetto Corsa in steam and install it.

You wont lose access to the game or the DLC by following this procedure.

 

Clean install is not risky at all and given that AC download size is small being under 7gigs means it all goes by pretty fast even if you have poopy internet speeds like I do . I myself re install AC with every major update just to keep things clean and avoid risks of breaking stuff due to incompatibility and mismatches, not needed entirely but I have been totally problem free with AC when compared to the hordes of people that keep having issues every time a new update rolls out. Just follow the steps told by the above user and you should be fine.
