Online dead?

Is it just me or is AC online completely dead aside from the drift lobbies or am I just on at the wrong times? At this very moment its 10:00pm pst and there is 3 drift rooms in use and nothing else,I wonder how many people actually play this game.

 

On PS4 there are a few people. But mainly there aren't more than 8 people in the most popular Lobbys (GT3, Monza, Spa for example).
I don't use the online mode either because i'm not interested in driving races with only a few minutes Qualifying and such a low amount of laps. Would love to play the game online with my league-mates, but as long as this isn't possible i stick to the special-event-mode and try to get every gold medal

 

Hi! I'm new to AC on Xbox1, although I've been part of online racing on the PC in other sims.

Anyway, I cannot find a single living person in the multiplayer section. All the servers show no one. I've tried circulating in a few for an hour in the hope that someone joins me, but no luck.

So, what am I doing wrong? Where or when can I find some online racing? Leagues?

That sucks. PC servers can be full with folks and I have to wait to get on one (like this weekend) or no one is online and I can't find any fun (most evenings when I get home from work). I started a thread over a year ago claiming open wheel MP was dead. It's more on life support than anything, but definitely not up to my hope/expectation. I was thinking we'd be tripping over full servers and there would be league after league with a lot of different schedules to suit everyone's needs. Unfortunately that hasn't come true. Occasionally a server will be chock full and I have to wait to get on, but it's rare. I think with cold weather in the North hemisphere coming up that the servers will start to fill.

Also, the game is very Euro centric; so most leagues and public rooms are filled at peak times for Europe. By the time North America gets to prime-time gaming time; the servers are mostly empty. You'll also notice that when KUNOS releases a new car or DLC that the servers are filled to the brim. After 3 weeks or so the newness wears off and it goes back to whatever servers were out before. The Lotus 72D and Brands Hatch experienced this when it was released before xmas. That was an awesome 3 weeks. So many full 70's F1 servers. I think I saw 3 full 70's F1 servers at one point. It doesn't sound like much, but I'd take that now for sure. Only recently has it started to take off again, but at a much smaller level.
