Sharing personal first impressions.

i bought AC from steam yesterday and i would like to share my first impressions about it.
After playing a little bit with NV settings and in-game settings, i found a perfect setup to take out its best and make it look wonderful, capped @ 60fps.
Overall i think it's a very good game/sim, with an immense potential for future upgrades.

Thing i do like:

• Cars. Absolutely outstanding.
• Cockpit sound effects.
• Bloom.
• Blur, not in-game one (which i don't use), but that on distant background during replays.
• Overall gameplay and "driving model", with the possibility to tweak your driving experience.
• Modding.
• Kunos staff's support in the forums

Things i do not like:

• Trees. Not in real 3d, but just two crossed planes with transparency textures. They looks like some 15-years-ago-games ones.
  
• Cockpit sense of speed. Tried different FOVs but can't find any setting i like. Because of this, i play in hood view.
• External views sound effects (hood view also). So much different and worse than the excellent cockpit view ones.
• Ideal race line. I'm not a pro simmer, i'm just a quite good skilled casual gamer, so i really find it useful to learn quickly a new track, without too much trial and error while keeping the fun up. But in AC it's quite useless because its color (green to red) don't change from car to car, and don't change dinamically. For example the NFS Shift2 one is the way.
• Tracks' LoD. I don't know if the final release will be improved, but i found the 3d geometry level of detail of the tracks a little bit below the standards. The shape of the turns is fairy good, but some other areas are very poor (i.e.: the rough division from safety escape asphalt and sand, also made by big and squared surface polygons). I know that maybe for most people it's not important, but also other elements are quite poor, i.e. the man standing at starting line holding the sign... He's awful It's better to just not put such elements if the detail is so poor.

In videogaming community, Kunos makes me proud to be italian
