To anyone who just bought Assetto Corsa this weekend

I tried this RHM, and my TrackIR didn't appear to work. Although the effects are nice, I NEED my TrackIR for spacial awareness. So if this doesn't work with TrackIR, I'm afraid I won't bother using it.

I downloaded the Content manager so far, aswell as Helicorsa. I find that one brilliant.

I like Ace Pumpkins comment, car control over competition. That's the plan Ace, learn how to drive a race car, learn the Tracks, and then go from there. I'm so used to driving heavy old HGV's, I'm flying off in all directions in some of these cars I'm not liking the paddle shift cars at all right now, but manual shifting feels more natural. Lots of practice I guess.

This book helped a lot racers in both rl and sim racing I think.
And one other hint. Don't get frustrated if you are not competitive at first. Sim racing isn't that easy, it has a long learning curve. Try to approach it like you would drive a real car. DO NOT overdrive it. Always to stay in control. If the car becomes unstable you're overdoing it. Try to be calm and smooth. Further your limit with every lap and you will become a better driver soon, just avoid frustration. Fun is the point.

 

You know what, I thought you ment the opposit, as in camera bolted on to the car. Which is of cause not what you´re using, I just figured that out. I just closed RHM and tried Lock to Horizon and =

Nords is like riding a rollercoaster in VR! I swear I felt the ups and downs in my stomach! I gotta admit you´re right on this one: for VR, this option is mindblowing! I still don´t like it on monitor(s), I don´t think anybody does, but damn it´s insane in VR?!
Elevations on Nords almost feels exaggerated, but far from the stupid up/down view in cockpit when using monitors.

If the elevation is too much, we can still use RHM, then set Pitch/Roll filters maybe to 95-99%.

OKay, I´ve driven some more and I feel elevations is infact exaggerated compared to rl. Also the car and avatar/driver movement is too crazy when going over bumps.
Solution: uncheck Lock to Horizon again, start RHM, set pitch/roll filters at 95% (100% equals lock to horizon checked). It works really really well!
Of cause leave everything else in RHM at 0.

 

Exaggerated? Have you been to those tracks in real life? Elevation change at the ring is extreme. It's the most shocking thing when you go there in real life to experience it because sims and video games aren't able to show that well.

But I've only used rhm with the default settings. Can you tune it while in game or do you have to quit each time?

 

No, I haven´t been on Nords yet irl but have compared others while working on track research. I expressed my thoughts wrong: I ment the way your brain interprets the elevation changes through VR with lock to horizon is exaggerated. Especially going uphill and being squashed down to the dash is bit too much, as you don´t stay there ones the G´s are gone when the change happened.
But, you´re right, sims doesn´t interpret elevation that well.
Yes, you can pause game and Alt+Tab anytime out to RHM, change values and hop back in, works for me
