1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I so hope it is, it would be crime if it's not.

Someone asked if they couldnt just buy scanned track data from iracing.
He said that iracing would charge them a stupid amount, just as he'd charge iracing a stupid amount if they wanted to buy data from kunos

Yeah, if you mean in the previous stream we talking about the same thing. :) I didnt remember it was specific for iracing though but thought he was talking in general when the question about north/south american circuits was asked about.

This will be a good test to see if lasercsanning is that important.

It is important when they marketing their game for having laser scanned tracks to have the highest accuracy possible. Try the tracks on pCars thats not laserscan and say you dont notice a difference (try nordschleife for example).

Let modders do tracks thats not laserscanned. Some of them are really good, I dont say anything about that, but im expecting KS tracks to be it.

  6. I really hope it is a laserscanned track!

Oh dear... I just hope Stefano doesn't get into trouble for telling us this. I'd hate for him to stop doing his streams. They were really an awesome thing, and a new level in community communication.

Yes, but no. honesty is important and since he is the boss... i dont see problems.
but ofc there will be backlash if its true that its not laserscanned. for me personal, just dont do it if its not laserscanned and there is a mod for it.

  11. It's not a rumor, he said that it isn't scanned so it isn't. Sucks for all the obvious reasons, but it is what it is. Hopefully the decision to license it and create it without a scan wasn't made lightly or without discussion and hopefully this doesn't become the norm.

Well that's disappointing. I wonder why, laser scanning must be pretty great while creating tracks and allows for faster development.

I dont make tracks myself but i would guess that it takes more time to do it with laserscan since its so much that need to be "perfect" in the development of it.

Ps. Im not excited for the track anymore.

If it is not scanned, this will make the comparison with the Zandvoort version in R3E even more interesting. :) That one is excellent. Lets see what Kunos' artists made of it: its artist versus artist, creative imagination versus creative imagination, man versus man, red blood on hot sand, the sound of swords on shields and spear crossing in midair.

Well, maybe no blood and no steel and spears. LOL

Serious, I do not care that much anymore for scanned tracks, for the simple reason that for me as somebody not knowing the real places from own driving experience aynyway it necessarily cannot be an argument, because I cannot judge in what way this or that version is more "realistic". R3E has taught me that you can get extremely good tracks without laserscanning, and I mean both the environment looks and the track's surface conditions, bumps and small differences in elevation. What I always compare to when driving a "realistic" track is not my experience from reality, which I do not have, but my IMAGINATION of what the things I imagine would feel like in reality - if I would ever be able to gain such experience.

In the end, what i want is being provided with a good and believable ILLUSION. How that illusion is being created by the makers, is not so much interesting for me anymore. That it does a good job in building the illusion - that is what its about.

That is true for any PC simulation genre out there, btw.

Or does anyone not like Grobnik, Donington, Luccaring or Lake Louise - because they are not laserscanned? The sensor bubble world in Falcon 4? The virtuality of ultracomplex PMDG cockpits in FSX/P3D ? Its like with the magican on the stage of a varieté. Welcome to the show, lay back and enjoy it. Don't try to analyse it to death. ;) That way you just miss the best of it: the illusion.

Be pragmatic. Pick laserscanned tracks if you are being offered some. And if there is no laser-version of your beloved tracks, don't worry about it and try what there is. R3E has seen me positively surprised too many times now as if I would worry about non-laser-scanned tracks anymore.

How will you be able to compare which track is the best when you dont know how its supposed to drive? For some people a fantasy track can be more enjoyable to drive than spa for example, does it make that track more accurate to rea life than a laser scanned spa?

Youre sure that you really understood correctly what I was saying? I don't think so.

My point is that if you do not have driving experience on a given track, you compare a virtual version to just your idea about what it would feel like in reality anyway. You can read books about parachute jumping - does not provide you with an idea of what it really is like.

That the illusion you get from a track is a convincing, satisfying one - that is what it is about. You always compare that to just your imagination if you have never driven a racecar on that track in RL yourself. ;)
