Where would you go if AC did not exist?

If no AC would exist: I'd be with Raceroom (what a surprise...), probably testing out Automobilista as well, occasionally driving Dirt, maybe having an updated-modded Nascar 2003 installation as well.

I sometimes take relaxation from driving in Berlin OMSI, and sometimes ETS2. Sometimes I'm just in the right mood for that.

Oh, and driving really heavy things. SBP 3.0. Though that is not relaxing, but sweat-shedding.

 

All the other racing games.

 

Well, I originally built my rig for Skyrim and a racing sim, having moved on from XBox to PC gaming. If AC hadn't existed back then, I'm sure I would've ended up going to R3E or rFactor. If AC suddenly didn't exist NOW, where would I go? Probably into a deep depression, then to Las Vegas to slowly drink myself to death.

 

Before AC i was in an active NetKar-Pro league, i bet NKP would be bigger and i would be there. Could be Dirt Rally also.

Hehe, @A3DR you are anohter of my victims! i allways talk about AC to ppl i know they like cars and try to bring them to this great Sim. BTW i take the chance to tnx you to bring me back to moding and 3D modeling since u been who made me came back to 3D stuff.

No. Some Dirt with controller and different Genres.
AC opened the drivers door for me.
And without the mods and nice community overall i would not have bothered to start learning .

Why wouldn't I simrace without AC? I find the hole idea that it's AC or nothing quite funny and people who thinks like that are just shooting to their own legs imo, they have every right to do so naturally.

I've been playing racing games 20+ years and I have no reason to stop doing so even if AC would dissapear today.

This plus I would probably stick to Automobilista and/or R3E. However, I would definitely miss AC very much. It's always the same feeling that binds me to AC: You select any of the street cars and it just feels incredibly right - like dermonty said. That is what Assetto Corsa mainly is for me.
And if I never knew about AC I wouldn't have missed it.
I would have dreamed of a much better Project Cars (due to street cars which are lacking in AMS and R3E) with more accurate physics and FBB but it wouldn't have been the same.

 

I still remember my first go on AC early early-access lol... I believe it was a BMW on Imola, having previously tried other titles on my trusty DFGT back then, including R3E, GTR2, Race 07, rF2 demos etc, I couldn't believe how I could feel the whole car just by looking at my single 19'' screen back then and holding the wheel. Never ever felt that way in any racing sim...
Probably the closest was Race 07 but the engine was old...
FFB was unbelievably believable (is that a thing?), looking at how the car rolls and pitches in replays was absolutely gorgeous, even I showed my dad an onboard video of a guy using Oculus DK2 in road car going around a track - all he said was 'Hmm, these trees look like graphics, is this real?' And he's been a professional driver for more than 30 years youkno... So the only thing that wasn't realistic to him was the graphics, not the car movement which just tells you the whole story.

That's also the situation for me. I enjoyed the P&G3 mod for quite some time, but numbers dwindled online......and everybody knows how much I like large numbers I would probably just concentrate on my flight simulator (Lockheed Martin P3D v3.1 at the moment).

 

Probably I'd have an holiday in Peru'.. I'd love to see Nazca.

Let's suppose that AC never existed, so nobody knew.
Well as some people said I invested to my gear because of AC.
Previously I was playing netkar pro with mouse and I was pretty fast.
When AC tech preview released, I decided to buy a FFB wheel.
Then I discovered that I just loved sim racing.
So maybe if AC wouldn't existed, I would never discover this hobby.

But this is also a hypothetical question, because if people had this emptiness , maybe there would be another title to fill the gap.

Where would most people go? That game would grow.

I think that AC has other titles killed.
rF2 IMO is dying.
Raceroom has taken another path that I would like. Less hardcore.It can't compete with AC.
PCArs is a joke.
AMS is old and lacks features.

I guess that people that just love to drive cars , would be in despair. Only AC does that.
If AC wouldn't be there, maybe PCars would be more sim.

Who knows?

But if hypothetically, I did continue with this hobby, with games being as are today, that would be probably rF2 and AMS.
