1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Yep, that's how it works! And the further away from the center axis, the more "Side G-force" you can replicate, unfortunately the further you go, the harder is it to get the mass going.

Nice rig and thanks for showing :)

In other words, "I have no real idea how any of this works, I'm just talking out my ***... then you politely called my bluff, so now I'm just going to insult you and run away." Bravo.

It does look odd in that video and the gopro video fov shows more then you will see when in the rig. Ive tried a force dynamics mltion sim before and cant say I even noticed the room I was in once I got going. It had a huge screen sitting very close pretty much filling your peripheral vision. Also looking for apexes the last thing your looking at is the room outside the edge of the screen. On my home setup I cant even see the new kunos flags as they are out of my peripheral in the top left corner and if you turned out the lights there would be nothing in your vision other then the screen.

The forces in it when I tried made it much more natural to drive and I was pretty sceptical before using it for the same reasons others mention. I only tried LFS, Rfactor and RBR in it. And these compared to a few basic motion platforms were at another level in the FD 401 that I tried.

The others I tried were those motion platforms where the seat moves a couple centimeters and to me the FD made feeling the car in a slide so much easier. The 100k odd price turned me off lol and also the large screen was a projector with not enough resolution that made the image quite blurry. A good large 4k low lag screen wpuld be ideal for this setup.

I have tried a few other platforms since and still the fd 401 was the best feel I got out of any consumer grade motion platform.

There've actually been some good points made here, which I'm going to go through and multiquote reply to tomorrow morning after I've had a bunch of caffeine. :) Thanks for watching!

i had a go in one of these once, and although it looks violent, when your in there it feels smooth.

Until you've owned a motion rig or Build a motion rig, your the one who has no clue how any of this works and are talkin out your a** ;)

You need helmet and 5 point harness to ride in this sim. Crazy?

Good luck with your project, I'm sure you will refine it and work out the bugs.:)

  10. Easily the best motion sim I've tried was Force Dynamics. As @Tucker73 said previously it doesn't feel bad when you are actually in there.

The wheel with very little dor and too small display was lacking behind the quality of the motion though.

Seems to be some jelly people here... Force Dynamics create (for many years) one of the most badass motion rigs in the world available to civilians, and some try to act like FD dont know what they are doing, LOL! :D

But yeah im jelly too: dont have the cash, and certainly dont have the space for one!

There are some real challenges regarding motion simulators and Virtual Reality, particularly with large motion arcs and harsh movement such as when replicating Nords. The way it works is that the Rift tracking camera is tied to the ground as its frame of reference. Huge simulator movement are registered as bobbing your view around relative to the horizon in an unrealistic manner.

Mounting the camera on the rig itself will only work for gentle flight simming. Many of us have tested putting the Rift tracking camera on our motion rigs under actual harsh conditions, like Nords, and you can't isolate it enough from the harsh vibrations and movement, which created tracking issues.

The technical issue is having a generic way to implement motion cancellation. Motion cancellation is where the movement of the sim is subtracted from the Rift tracking, so your view remains stable, even though the sim is pitching about. Oculus expects it to be done developer by developer, game by game and that is never going to happen.

Some commercial motion sims like the Atomic 2, which is implementing Rift support, are building motion cancellation in for the same reason. VectionVR is a free way to add motion cancellation but it has to be applied at a source level by developers and so far only one developer has done so, Live For Speed. My hope is that Valve will be more open to a generic motion cancellation solution, as VR and motion simulation are amazing together.

The best Rift experience is on motion simulators that target the haptic quality of the sharp forces and jolts a driver experiences, not large movements. The holy grail of VR is achieving what is called presence, and that is a mind trick about having enough cues that work together to make you feel like you are really there. Large movements making your view bob around all over the place relative to the horizon very much breaks presence.

It looks very much fun but it's not realistic imo.

I've tried more motion rigs, never one like this tho, but less movement, just a tiny bit to the left, front etc feels way better as huge movements.

I'm visiting Playseat again soon too try there new motion rig. :D

Would it even be possible to use a H-shifter on a rig like that? I mean on a track like Nordschleife as we saw in the video.

not how it works :) ... rotation applies lateral g-forces to your body .. longer turn need longer rotation .. if you are turning for 4 seconds, you need to be "spinning" for 4 seconds to get adequate g forces .. and by speed of that spinning you simulate amount of g-forces, obviously higher speed, tighter turn = faster spining = more centrifugal force
So technically to be able to simulate g-forces correctly, you need to be able to rotate in infinite degrees - no lock on rotation (for extra looong turns :) ) ..

Hadn't thought of that. I wonder will Valves Vive be any better? Maybe you could have your normally set up laser thingies and one or two attached to the rig as well. I suppose there's always going to be some processing involved that could slow everything down.

Still though, last year the holy grail was the rift. Now the holy grail is this thing and the rift. It's good to have unattainable goals.

Tracking the sim is easy, even without Valve's Lighthouse system. What generic motion cancellation needs is an API that lets you use that data to offset the view in the VR head mounted display, in real time.
