Better trees

I just read the top post and I believe one main difference between AMS or ISI based sims is they use camera facing trees. They are a simple 2D plane that always faces the camera. Drive up real close and slow to them and you can watch them rotate. This gives them a more "3D" look since you are always looking at them straight on.

 

Ahh, that's probably the reason why they look so weird moving in the video.

 

If only it was that easy, lol.

 

A game breaker ?? how the hell do you ever get to play any games. Your requirements for a game must be ridiculously high.
Its just a tree.. I mean, we have had broken AI, cars that don't work properly, tracks with major discrepancies but "the trees don't look real enough" is a game breaker for you.. Do you realise how silly that sounds ?
If trees are so bad then ignore them and concentrate on the driving.. This is a racing sim not a botanists sim.. If you have time to admire the foliage then you are clearly not paying enough attention to the driving..

I understand that all the background adds to the immersion factor, but if you was properly paying attention to the driving you shouldn't even be seeing the trees, let alone noticing how good or bad they are, it should all just be a background blur as you are zooming along.

I see both sides of it. As a track builder I try to mimic reality as close as possible and it can be a real struggle sometimes when dealing with foliage. Not necessarily because of the AC engine mind you. It is just a tough thing to replicate and still have run well as a game. I spent probably close to 2 months just on trees and bushes for Bridgehampton. If you go through my old thread you will see at least 5 different versions of trees until I was satisfied.

Then on the other side I raced a 39 lap race at Brands Hatch in the 312T last night and I don't remember looking at anything other than road, curbs, and other cars. The trees could have been pink and I probably still wouldn't have noticed.

 

Deleting what I had typed was my way of making the forum a better place.

 

I'm pretty sure the Nords trees are the same as other tracks, maybe just the shading is different.

 

I said 'almost', jeez It was my cheap way of putting pressure on Kunos So many serious people here, ofcourse i won't stop driving because of the trees.. Stop being all Michael hornbuckles/hypocrites, i bet if they teased a picture of Spa with some brand spanking new trees you would all be liking that shi* like crazy..
