please help me out on a basic G27 setup

unless i want to reorganize everything & buy a new desk, i think a wheelstand is a must for me. idk if my current seat will be able be acceptable as a 'cockpit' like expereince or not. i have a lowly 21.5 inch monitor & will probably buy a 24" or 27" 1440p bundled w/t he wheel & stand.

i am not remotely handy, so simpler constrcution = better construction for me. nit something weighty, that cd hold my seat in place, would i thinik be ideal.

just hope totake the plunge here soon before i change my mind AGAIN & am looking for & looking for tips on not splatting out at the end of it or just avoiding that nasty mess all together.

Before you go crazy on a stand, are you absolutely sure the G27 wont work on your desk?

I was worried about this exact same thing, but its turned out to be perfectly fine.

 

i think its unlikely.. its quite light & even if i put some effort into stabilizing it i'd still be left w/ a bulmky piece of equipment that willi be rly intrusive, so gripping & ungripping it every time vs just picking up the wheel+stand that i can tuck away when not racing seems worth it to me? i'll look around the pics more & get a better concept of what people are doing w/ their rigs.

 

I am facing the same issue. I'm currently mounting my G27 on the keyboard tray *shudder*, I guess you can imagine how shaky/annoying/unstable that is. I can't mount it on the main desk because then I would sit way to close to the pedals.
A few days ago I ordered the GT Omega Wheel stand which hopefully will get rid of all my woes. Let's see how it goes

I was also long deciding whether I should by a wheel stand or look for an other solution. I came to the conclusion that for me there is no way around a wheel stand, and as a bonus, the tedious "get-the-wheel-out-of-the-box-and-mount-it" process will be history as well.

btw, I use a crappy office chair and probably will continue using it even with the wheel stand.

 

we've still got the tedious 'assemble the entire stand' part, though. but yeah, at least thats a one time deal. pretty sure im gonna walk a very similar path as well. office chair here also.

think im gonna get into iracing (hope so, as ive dumped some money into it) & i really hope this will put me on a fastrack to be able to race at lower levels.

 

Ture, but unfolding the wheel stand vs mounting the wheel will be faster, or at least more convenient.

I've been looking for a similar wheel stand. The GT Omega looks good, though have to order it from the UK (none in the US?). I think this might be better than the Wheel Stand Pro (w/c has good reviews too though) since the stands are on the side (rather than at the middle between your legs). I'm not sure though if the GT Omega has an option to adjust the pedal base's angle?

 

thats a good point u bring up about the stand, though i didnt see any complaints about it (didnt look carefully). but yeah, that does seem awkward. i know ISR was demo-ing an indie one that looked pretty good, same pricepoint but had a feature where it would press down on yr chair w/ enough heft to keep it in place, which would prob be a nice thing to have for someone in a cheap swivel seat like me.

 

I have a G27 and WSP, only con is the pole in the middle and that the peddle mount is the best, but works. I adjusted the pedals on the G27 so that is comfortable using left foot and right foot braking with the pole in the middle. There not many other offering in the same price zone with pole on the side. Its great otherwise and its tidy looking. Heavy so that it doenst wobble or fall over with the FFB. It uses big bolts and quick releases for the adjustable parts.
