So how long before "realism mods" turn all track surfaces to ice?

Tbh the AC community seems far more optimistic and free of trolls and complainers compared to almost every other simulator atm.
The driving feel is really great and there is plenty of depth to be found in it, and sure, it's not perfect and everyone thinks they know what would make it perfect, but it's all a matter of preference.

The iRacing "physics" have always been a major annoyance for me, I love everything about the sim apart from the ridiculous pricing, and this code they seemed to have added that says, "hey, racing is supposed to be hard, so if this guy doesn't take this corner 100% perfectly, we'll turn the road in to ice". The physics are amazing, but there seems to be this added code that spoils the realism. Assetto Corsa does have maybe a touch too much under-steer, but, along with Game Stock Car 2013, it's the best experience out there for me. There is definitely this disease in the gaming world that says sims need to be super hard to use. Good feedback from the road and a racing car that has grip and handling is all it takes to be realistic.

 

First thing that has to happen with all simracers...in all simracing titles... whether that be AC, RF2, Pcars etc...proper virtual seating position.
It has a massive influence on how a virtual car appears to behave.
Want realism? Sit as you would and set your viewing to represent what you would in your daily driver. Only then, can you remark on handling.
Almost all the guys who are extremely fast otherwise, turn to pot and languish mid-pack when reality rears it's 'ugly' head.

 

Ok, I had some theories or rather speculations on that also. Do we want to set the camera to where WE sit in our daily drivers or where the actual racers sit in their cars PER car? I know some racecars the driver is so far back he's damn near in the back seat where with others it isn't so far back.

 

hi ,brand new to AC but have been racing since crammond days on my old faithful Amiga
2nd day, honest opinion love it. Appears to be straight and honest, all cars easily handleable but with lots of wriggle room for tuning but as has been said before do not think the advantage via tuning will be as great as RF2 etc. Looking forward to the obvious progress this sim will make.

 

Tbh i never though tuning was to be quicker but to help drivers being more comfortable driving the car, which in turn makes them quicker.
Everyone has a driving style and cars need to adjust to man. If the man is fighting the car then it is either doing it wrong like not driving the car the way it's meant to be driven, i.e., driving a gt like an open wheeler or something is wrong with the car, i.e., flat tyre.
