Update 1.14 and RTR DLC impressions

I suppose they're too close to the game to see when things are unclear, like [WIND] SPEED_KMH_MIN=2, SPEED_KMH_MAX=40, DIRECTION_DEG=-1 is tricky when you don't know the commonly used words in AC ini files like MIN meaning minimum, KMH meaning kilometres per hour, deg meaning degrees, and -1 being a special value meaning "no value specified" (in this case random direction).

Likewise 'variation' is a pretty standard statistical word when you're working with a range of values (so AI difficulty + variation => well defined) but I suppose they could go to the effort of defining it for people who've never heard it.

 

New AI is fantastic , most fun in my opinion when driving cars like the lotus 3-11 Xbow and then some of the faster road cars !

Good explanation, I now noticed the same driving struggle from the AI just watching gamermuscle's video on the update. Where the road car drivers were below their potential in corners or when in battle with player. In his video can be seen during the times he shows gameplay with the mazda rx7, the AI opponents around him having that behavior as in the 595 abarth s2.
Then other problems are related to them not being able to get out of situations where a car is stopped and the AI are coming on the same line as the player. This is an abnormal situation but that's gaming, players will exploit/find the stuff devs don't imagine, or just use that as argument that the AI doesn't work, and unfortunately it makes the game look bad when people review the AI because is indeed a problem that happens with the game. But I find the situation from the abarth 595 s2 driving example much more important for the quality of racing in single player.

After some tests I can say that I took a hit in performance after the update. Before the update, with the same settings, I had constant 60 FPS (VSync ON) while hotlaping any track, including replays. Now I have lots of slowdowns to 35 and 43fps in arbitrary locations. I have an FX8320E and GTX960 2GB. Had to set smoke to the lowest, change effects from normal to medium, this changes reduced the problem, but it still occurs.

 

fx8350+gtx970 all running butter smooth on win 10 enterprise, i had many microstutering on win7, butsince 1~month ive gone to win 10 and its just perfectly smooth.

 

Is IT intended, that the Toyota lmp1 has no recuperation Sound? All other lpm1 cars have...

 

Had my first go last night of the new release with the dlc
Brands Hatch GP
20 cars all Audi TT VLN. Started last. 20 lap race.
AI on 93% with variance set to 5 and aggression set to 90
Verdict: amazing. Had close side by side battles. Had to defend. Best patch ever.
Finished 10th

Also love the 4 settings for which apps to display.

Same here mate, had 20% Cpu before the update in VR now it at 97% ! regardless of race, hot lap, practice, track etc.. wondering if the app is telling the truth... I will do a fresh install with no mods and see if its an app/mod causing the issue.

 

The best way to find out your actual cpu usage is to use msi afterburner overlay and see for each cpu core. Are you using any mod apps? Maybe one of them that have become a cpu hog.

turn off as many apps as possible, even official, to free up as much cpu as possible if you having issues.

 

Better to limit fps instead using vsync (huge input lag) , seems a fps drop related to vsync

First time I really noticed the crosswind, I ran a few laps in a server with no wind and made a setup then tried my own with a wind that was 25kmh. In the R18 etron I noticed the crosswinds really effecting this car in high speed corners with the strong winds from the inside making the rear end extra loose so I needed to add some more rear aero and also just back off a bit more in these high speed corners with the wind from the inside. Maybe its full placebo maybe its the wind in action.

 

I've been doing the special events with the AI...

It's pretty much a benchmark there.

 

Man that virtual desktop is in it's own right as awesome update as the new AI. Loving it!

 

Great update in all changelog related terms. Fantastic work Kudos to Kunos.
Races against the AI its a little bit like online racing now (without the biggest idiots there )
The R2R pack is awesome

Maybe can Kunos add an off. colorpack for the Maserati (ala M. Hornbuckle) to give us same space for custom skins (for online racing)

Just a quick request to Kunos to update the excellent AI 'Aggression' button to the 'Verstappen' button...

...should be easy to do considering forgetting the 'Electronic' button

 

The Maserati MC12 GT1 is the best car in the package and one of my personal favorite of the whole game.
Pure, organic, mechanical , it grips and it slides, micro adjustments with the wheel, awesome brakes and OMG the sound!!!
This car is epic.
Only thing that disturbs me is that i would like more polygons for the air ducts @pankykapus

 

Cant get enough of p1 gtr! Havent even got to try any of the lmp cars yet, toyota rally car or the audi tt vln version, because its just one more lap with the p1 gtr.

I havent dived into dsr or anything like that yet (never drive cars that has it so not even sure how it works), so i guess i have only experienced a small part of what the car has to offer so far.

 

The miniature 'Fire' bucket is more of an issue...left there by the mini firemen.
