1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Why do some tyres just never go green?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat Room' started by MsportDAN, May 25, 2017.

  1. As a rule across the entirety of AC, tire pressures should always be dropped a few psi IIRC

Hi there. With a green track at 13°C you'll have a hard time getting high tyre temperatures, especially on a stop and go track with not much long fast turns like Vallelunga.
Keep in mind though... a colour is just a colour, it is there to give you a hint. But if the tyre shows something like 50-60°C it doesn't mean it is cold, you probably can't touch it if you tried. It still generates grip, just not optimal.
In real life, you would get out of the car, touch the tyres and go "oh boy it's hot!, but today the track has not much grip, can't match my best laptimes"
In Sim life "oh god the tyres are not perfect green all the time everywhere, this is terrible!"

It is strange how our brain works, but I understand the feeling.

Why would you live by such a terrible rule of thumb, Mikey?

EDIT: Even worse - spread misinformation..

  4. Just made a handful of laps and the pressures are fine, looks like they only really need to be dropped one or two psi.

  5. Because I mostly drive street cars that have default pressures set (still a bit too high) for street tires yet I mostly drive on semi's.

Didn't the street cars get that weird street psi on semi tyre 'bug' fixed a while ago?

Tyre pressures on street cars are default real pressures. As usual, those pressures are high, so that the tyres have proper pressure in normal slow driving conditions.
When you get the car on track either on street or semislicks, you need to lower the pressures quite a bit, as in real life.
@Michael Hornbuckle is right for at least 90% of the cars

Not so for race cars. Didn't know we're talking only street cars. Pretty much every race car has pressures right up there or slightly lower.

Well he said KTM X Bow...

Yeah but Michael said 'across the entirety of AC', so I thought I would clarify since people are coming here for advice. Don't want new guys to start -5psi as a rule of thumb on GT3 cars and then wonder whats wrong...

Michael Hornbuckle should've added "for street cars", but yeah we're talking about street cars here. The KTM X-Bow R is a street car (the RR like in RaceRoom is a trackday/race car). For street/hypercar street/semislicks the pressures are all typically higher than what you'd need for track driving.

As for the topic, look out for getting close to the optimal pressures first to get the optimal contact patch, then check how your temperatures do and perhaps adjust the alignment accordingly.

oh of course I forget its not the race prepped one.

Well the race prepped one, back in the days of the year model we simulate, didn't had many differences. With a pair of semislicks (imposed by rules) and stiffer springs and lower ride height, plus some extra brake pads/cooling, was running in GT4 category (and winning)

Then why did you waste your time typing a reply? If you read the OP and thought he was trolling, just hit the back button and go to another thread instead of wasting your time writing an angry post. ;)

    1. If you don't want to waste your time, why do you answer? Who told you, you have to answer everything?
    2. Not everybody uses this forum like you, reading every single thread, writing thousands of comments. So yes, maybe it was already discussed 100 times, but not for him.
    3. This place is the official forum of Assetto Corsa owned by Kunos Simulazioni, and not your playground. Every single person who comes here, are customers of KS. They all are very important and EQUALLY important for KS, because they are the buyers of their product. This place is for them, for their satisfaction. So if you act like this, you harm the business of KS.
