1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

    Hotlap

Oh no I hear you groan! Not the Nordshleife for Christmas again!
But this is different. I think you’ll find it quite absorbing… For those that know the circuit, it will mean using full throttle in unusual places and for those that don’t, I hope it’s a big boost to the learning curve.

It’s also seasonally appropriate… An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route….”

This challenge is in tribute to my father, who I miss very much.

Having attended the Jim Russell School and done a fair bit of racing, in the early 1960s he and my uncle took part in a 24hr race at the Nordschleife, racing their Morris Minor 1000. The only modifications were aftermarket rear suspension to prevent the rampant axle tramp caused by the power of the 37hp engine.

He said it was absolutely terrifying! The huge speed difference between his class and the top class Ferraris and Porsches on the straights, meant constant headlights closing very fast in the mirrors, often two abreast. He spent most of the time either half on the thin grass verge or fully on it. When it got dark they could only occasionally use the lights, to save the battery! It then rained, so it became a toss-up between a good spark, or some vague illumination or perhaps a quick smear of the windscreen. For 24hrs! They finished the race and did well in his class, but he only ever competed once…
I would like to give you the details, but the records and photos have been mislaid, I will post them when my mother has found them! Pics below are to give you an idea…
    upload_2018-12-19_21-40-23.png
We have recently marvelled at the nut size of those who raced cars such as the Porsche 917, but this challenge is in respect of those who raced the little cars! We haven’t got a Morris Minor so we are using the Abarth 595 SS instead.

The Motor magazine tested a Morris Minor four-door saloon in 1952. It reported a top speed of 62 mph (100 km/h) and acceleration from 0–50 mph (80 km/h) in 28.6 seconds. A fuel consumption of 39.3 miles per imperial gallon (7.19 L/100 km; 32.7 mpg US) was recorded. The test car cost £631.

Unsurprisingly, car tuner Abarth “believed that the Fiat 500 could be improved”… The Abarth 595 SS was released in 1964, with power increased “even further” from its 595 predecessor to 32bhp by using a bigger carburettor. The 595 SS could now reach speeds of nearly 70mph, or over 130 km/h. The 595 SS had some aesthetic differences, including an aerodynamic spoiler! The last model of the Abarth 595 came in 1970 with the Abarth 595 SS Assetto Corsa “which was more aesthetically pleasing than its predecessors and often painted bright red.”

Don’t use the brakes and definitely DO NOT LIFT OFF once into a corner!!

    5 Lap Race
A fast car on a short track, as a sweet alternative, I hope

Sounds like an interesting challenge. And a brilliant story. I hoped there was a Morris Minor mod floating around, sadly not.

Ok, a noob question about managing the insane amounts of power the Abarth has! It really doesn't like going uphill. Watching the speed drop and drop on the gentlest of slopes is painful. Going up the hill to flugplatz in fourth the speed dropped to around 111 kph (the max speed in 3rd), so I shifted down to third. My speed dropped further (approx. 98 kph) with the downshift but because of better acceleration I gained seconds on my previous best where I had stayed in fourth. My question is, is there a way of determining the best time to downshift?

Also, for the PC gamers, is there an app that shows time delta during replays?

That sounds pretty good! Presumably, there's the skill. Having, erm, had several goes, I took third gear as my speed dropped to about 65mph, which meant I held 60mph over the top though Flugplatz. That felt like a result.
Very chuffed to say I hit 90mph through the Foxhole. I reckon I'm at least minute off the winning time, at the moment.

What in the heck is this? Love the story behind all this @Totall Wrytoff , but you've really gone mad here! I couldn't resist the urge to let off and use the brakes in some areas, especially having gone drifting (unintentionally) through quite a few of the turns early on in the lap. And having to downshift in the middle of straights goes against everything I thought I knew about lapping the Nordschleife...

  11. Hoping that's a good thing... wish I was there to discuss in person!
My wife and I had our honeymoon in Hawaii, mostly at Manele Bay on Lanai and at Volcano House. Having come from London, it was like a dream, words cannot describe how utterly lovely your islands are.

It's a good thing for sure, but you know what they say about having too much of a good thing. As for your honeymoon and visit, that's really awesome! How did you like the scenery? Any thoughts on our Hawaiian food? Or what about the beaches? One of these days I'd like to visit Europe (in general) and see what you folks are all about. And maybe see a 595 in person while at it!

Watching the replay of this lap is surprisingly entertaining with the car puttering around as it does. I went around the outside of the Karussell this time around, so no idea if that really affected my time. Seriously though. It feels like an eternity passing on by as the car climbs through the uphill section following Bergwerk.

I'm also having bad thoughts now about making a PS4 lobby on the Tourist layout with the 595 SS and the Ferrari F2004 as cars to choose from.

Tried the mclaren combo out after I’d done 2 laps on nords in the abarth and it definitely woke me up, it’s so fast.
I’m not too familiar with Laguna sec but that car on that track is fantastic, what a combo.

Think I’ll pass on the abarth, took me nearly 13 mins to get around and I didn’t use the brake once so I doubt I could be any faster .

  21. Aww, c'mon Lewis!! Think of those that drove this for 12hrs of 24... without making a single mistake. I reckon you're good for a twelve thirty!
In fact, "tactical dabs" on the brakes allows you to get onto the throttle earlier, which is totally critical! Sorry if I was misleading in the post. "No brakes" was in the spirit of the thing rather than practical advice:D
