1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

In my opinion it works very well but shouldn't drop from 90 to 62 in 2-3 laps like mine did :D I can easily build it up in two laps up to 90 doing wet hostint on Monza with GT-R and then it just drops (with very similar overdrive number) especially when fighting other drivers or driving behind slower opponent which i think you shouldn't be penalized for with that amount of drop. But i guess you already said that you will look into it.

In a way yes, but the reality is just that the model returns some data. This has to be scaled to a rating that
    a) gives a reasonable 0, equals to the worst imaginable performance we want to cover
    b) always reflects "this was better than that"
    c) has a 50 CC rating at a place where you could say "if you did not achieve this (ever), we need to keep displaying the hints so you can understand the problem"
    d) has a reasonable 100 value (or now 99), as the pure mathematical optimum is not achievable even by perfect driving
    e) does not completely destroy morality by being too honest
    f) somehow be in line with the other ratings, in the best case you'd have close values of TR, CN, CC, PC

Totally agree, and in the model we use this shouldn't be possible. Some kind of bug is around for sure.

It has some flaws that need to be worked on but it's awesome most of the time. Great job indeed and surely big reason why i want to improve my driving style every time i launch the game :p It's telling me i'm bad?! I'll prove it wrong :D Shame that not everyone have this approach.

I am a little confused by the CC graph.

    CC.jpg

    1st Results: Car Control = 89 - Overdrive = 67 - Laps = 8
    2nd Results: Car Control = 85 - Overdrive = 76 - Laps = 22

    A few questions:-

    1. If my Overdrive has increased in the 2nd result why the red bar smaller?
    2. What are the values of the Y axis lines?
    3. Does semi abruptly pulling off the track to exit back to pits effect my CC rating?
    4. Will there ever be a bigger threshold for GPAD drivers as the car setup & driving style differs compared to a wheeled driver? (I have previously menti0ned the differences here: Update 0.6 - MP & Ratings Rebooted)

And this following portion is strange.

    cc2.jpg

    1st Results: Car Control = 58 - Overdrive = 78 - Laps = 1
    2nd Results: Car Control = 54 - Overdrive = 93 - Laps = 1

What comes to dry vs wet, just had a wet race, sesssion CC 92, so dont see anything wrong with that. Similar to what I do in dry.

  7. cc is ok here now.
sometimes 9X sometimes 6X. Looks like it displays the current session in game witch is even better.
But does it display the overall in the driver menu?
if it is done like that it's even better @Minolin but if it's not, I think it's a good idea.
I mean current in game and overall in the menu and in the matchmaking

My AVG CC values are fine IMO - between 70 and 90. But I can confirm that it jumps rather than progresses. From 89 to 72 - yep. Back from 72 to 82 - yep. You get the idea. I would expect it to be a more smoothed out long-term figure.

My CC rating seem to show the session rating instead of global CC rating, I cheked in profile section, the numbers match.

I did quite a bit of driving in ACC last week as had the week off, pretty much hadn’t driven since the last profile reset so was able to watch the ratings develop.

After unlocking CN it climbed after a couple sessions to 94 and has not moved at all since, is there something wrong with CN not updating or am I really that consistently consistent?

As already identified by others CC is up and down like a yo-yo but you are already aware of this. I don’t expect my CC to be very good as GT3 cars are not my thing but can I say that my performance in AC mainly in SRS has definitely improved in similar cars since putting time into ACC.

Actually won a race in the Huracan ST at Monza after putting time into learning the Godzilla there in ACC, and if you recall the type of car I specialise in it is the opposite end of the spectrum so that was very pleasing. The EXTRA INFORMATION from the ACC FFB (yeah that’s right I said it!) and the more demanding physics made me understand this sort of car (lots of aero requiring high precision) more back on AC and the benefit was immediately apparent.

Keep it up @Minolin you might make me actually like GT3 cars soon :D

Is there any further BoP on online servers?
I couldn't go under 1:49.800 and all my five laps were around 1:50.1 +/- 0.2s with the Godzilla and my top speed was under 265 in Monza, while in Hotlap (ten minutes later) I've done 1:48.3 and all seven laps were around 1:48.5 +/- 0.2s and my topspeed was over 270.
Same setup, same weather conditions same everything.

  13. No same grip.

Yeah, the session grip is possibly lower. Also remember that hotlap mode sets you at 10L of fuel, the extra weight in fuel during a full session will cost you time everywhere

I see, but usually I can do 0.5s faster laps online and my top speed is usually higher too.

Please, start to like GT3 cars and come to ACC MP, a lot. I recall the good racing with you on ALOOG back in AC :)

On topic: CN does actually move - I went down from 94 to 93 yesterday.

And although CC seems a bit "nervous" ATM, it works very well for me. It seems to be directly connected to my pace. When I'm slow, CC drops and I can check in the driver section if I overdrive or don't push enough. Usually it's the latter. And thanks to the very good FFB and predictable car behaviour, I usually have no issue correcting my driving style and improving my pace.

The rating system has already improved my driving, big time.

Apparently just using the Jag is a bad idea concerning CC. Any other car I can hit CC in the 90s, but the Jag sits around 50-60.

I definitely don't feel like I overdrive it, it's my fastest car on most circuits.

Yes in the meantime I found some space to look at it, and it kind of makes sense. The new CC algorithm bascially points to your best "recent" lap, while the "recent" is implemented in a way that fades away the more laps you drive.
To let your current driving have some impact on the rating, I added some kind of "effect" which is responsible for the fluctuation.

Sadly I have to chose between two stories:
    a) your driver ratings (CC, CN) are super stable and you do not need to worry about having a bad lap or two (or let somebody else drive on your PC). Just confirm your performance once in a while and it'll be good
    b) your rating (number) will give you immediate feedback if your're doing well or not

Can't be both, they are exclusive. b) has the additional problem of inlaps, outlaps, testing and wise handling of race traffic.
And in a way the current community feedback tells me we need a more transparent way how the ratings decay. So it'll be purely a), and I have to stop to make this even more sophisticated.

That means you'll set your CC by a good lap, then it'll immediately raise there. Sloooooowly, the rating will decay until you do another lap that is better than the decayed value. Very clear, nothing to worry about, and the message still is kind of correct:
    a) you do a 93 CC lap => 93 CC
    b) you do 50 80'ish CC laps => 93, 92, 91, ... CC
    c) you do a 92 CC lap => 92 CC

Additionally, you'll see a green highlight in the Rating app when a value rises - but no indication when it falls (as small decays are part of the natural game)

CN should work in a similar way, but appearantly has the error that the session CN carries over to the next one. Expect CN and CC become very similar in the way that summary and fading works.
Except that CN requires several laps to build up, so the decay has to be equally slower.

Very glad to hear that. Also glad to hear that in public - funnily I get lots of private comments, but rarely something I can refer to when disputing the sense or nonsense of the rating system.
Sadly there is some resistance for some people to accept that it could be right (probably where it could help the most) :-/

Thanks for the explanation. Please do whatever makes most sense to you. I'd just be glad if I could keep reading the rating like I did before. From what you write, I see no risk that this will change.

If people resist, let them resist. Those who can accept and work with the system will become faster. The sceptics will adapt, eventually. At the end of the day, lap times is what it all comes down to and if your system improves them, your system "is right".

Let me mention also how much I appreciate the SA rating. I'm a very clean driver and I barely cause any crashes as the agressor. But I realized that I might promote some crashes due to poor "car language" - my SA would drop due to the hits I take by divebombing aliens and divebombing noobs. I realized that I'm partly responsible for this and developed a better behaviour when someone is behind me. As a result, the SA has risen and stabilized. If the SA hadn't been there, I would possibly just have kept complaining and not questioned myself. You are responsible for a lot of such improvments happening "in the shadows".

On that topic - a suggestion: let the radio guy inform you of drivers behind with either
    a) a PC rating much higher than mine or
    b) a SA rating much lower than mine.

In both cases, I'd want to allow the driver to pass in order to avoid the crash. In case a), the guy will just be gone and both of us can concentrate on our races. In case b), the guy will spin out soon and I'll get my position back. It happens like this, most of the times ;-)

    What do you think?

  20. Jacobs

    Jacobs Racer

I don't think it's a good idea. Observing and reacting to opponents is part of racing. You will clearly see after few corners/laps what kind of driver you are facing. Also with online ratings requirements being enabled later on you will race against people who have at least minimum caution and understanding how racing works :p Your judgement is based on public lobby racing where you see all kinds of drivers so i don't think it applies to future ranked servers.

Also @Minolin. Any word on ruined thrust and SA ratings because of public lobby racing? I know that you're not sure if there will be ratings reset with 1.0 release but if not how it will gonna work? Good drivers with smashed SA rating will have to face slower SA gaining if there is no reset and build up thrust factor much slower than newcomers?
