0.7 Update - Official thread

Wow massive improvement to ai at nurburgring in such small update.

10 lap race with mp4-12c gt3 with zero contact!

No turn 1 pile up and no slow ai at turn 1.
No 95% CPU usage, no random FPS freeze mid race for 1-2 seconds.
No ai hitting me at bumper going into turn 14-15 chicane.
Two wide with ai cars without contact.
AI drafting me front straight to pass turn 1 without contact.

finished 8th at 100% strength.

I read in another thread that corner descriptions were added too?

 

AI much better in t1 only a small bit of contact between them in the last chicane, had one race 21 AI in the GT cars GT3,Gt2 (I was in) and p4/5 GT? Only 4 laps at 100% still came 8th so they aren't real quick but not anywhere near as bad. Good fun finding the way around will try all GT2 cars next but there really isn't that much between them all and starting at the back its nice to have the slight edge on those in front who's pace really isn't much different to the other Gt2 cars in the race.

I have this problem with telemetry, cant see my speed.

 

In game app called "Track Description"

Displays the name of the corner you are on.

 

Here is a quick 4 lap gt race with 0.7.2 the AI are getting better. Bring on multi but its still quite possible to have an ok race with AI they are still a little slow at 100% but good to have others on track for some racing fun.

I agree that the AI is much improved and can be enjoyable to race against. But most of the time they just do **** like this that really pisses me off

The worst thing is that once an AI car hits you it nevers lifts off, never stops pushing, so you end up facing the wrong way.
Exactly the way a relatively famous former F1 world champ nicknamed "idiot" drives.

 

Agreed. I'm okay with the AI giving my rear a bump here and there, it happens often in multiplayer too. But the thing is that when they do you realise that their speed is lower than their intended speed because they bumped into you, so they try to accelerate to compensate for it. And due to their blindness, they still try to take their original racing line even though you're there and just turn into the back of you accelerating. Sometimes makes me think that they're programmed to do pit maneuvers on you

 

Ehh, AI does need to have something like an awareness box or something like that (cone of vision or something of the sort). Essentially I got punted off of the track in an Exos at Silverstone by an AI driver coming into Stowe, was pretty miffed about that. Think Silverstone in general does need some adjustments, particularly at Abbey corner (turn 1), as there's way too much argy-bargy going on.

Still, love driving the Exos, and the Nurburgring GP circuit is awesome Need to drive the M3 GT2 on it and compare it with R3E, though I prefer AC's version of the Ring.

 

Dang it. My AC is still 0.7.1. And this update was 3 days ago?! Argh.

Verify integrity of the AC files and it should pull the updates for you once it's done checking.

I think the AI would need a vision-aware system that would allow for collision avoidance. I know in a lot of other games, the AI uses a field of view to detect players, so it's not really a new concept, but we could also have the AI able to glance from side to side to check their blind spots for traffic? Obviously it'd have to be speed-limited to keep it fair for the players, but it'd be awesome to feint in one direction, have the AI stuff up under pressure or go in deep to defend position, then you criss-cross up the inside to take the position. I know other racing games have this kind of mechanic, but I just think having something a bit more dynamic would greatly benefit the game.

 

Good job men, the AI works much better in 0.7.2 and you can now race with them much more comfortably.

For some reason you cant get the ingame app menu to the right anymore in Oculus VR mode.
