1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

  1. actually the rich got richer and the poor sunk in deeper so no crisis for those that can afford such gems.

I was reading the specs of the 488 GTB: 670 HP, 0-200 km/h in 8.3 sec. I just want to hear the sound of this animal, and see the racing version!

    Me too.
But 30 years ago this one already had 650BHP, so 20BHP in 30 years development LOL. j/k

Well, can't really compare a hardcore almost-a-racecar near-prototype (five 288 GTO Evoluzione built in total) to the basic mass-produced Ferrari model, with thousands of them built every year and sold to anyone with a driving licence and enough money. An equivalent to 488 GTB 30 years ago in the Ferrari range was 328 GTB with a whooping 270HP. Or 250 in the Italian 2.0L turbocharged model for the domestic market.

I know you were kidding but just wanted to put things in perspective for the other guys :)

makes you wonder if in 10 years time a base ferrari ferrari (non special like F40, Enzo, etc) with 1200 hp will be something... mainstream. :)

A base Ferrari in 10 years will probably have 1,5L turbocharged 3 cylinder engine with 400HP and 4 electric motors with 600HP total.
And every 100 km it will plant a new tree.

And yet there are people who complain about it.
Why V8, why turbo, why u no sound like real ferrari why this why that.

Forget you have a 172hp/litre motor, 15 years ago 110hp/ litre was reason enough to go out and riot in the streets, today it's just meh, doesn't sound like a ferrari
Forget the underbody aero and that damn active rear diffuze and blown spoiler, it's not pretty enough

What a sad world we live in when people who will never own something like this try their hardest to submine one of the best cars of this generation. I am at a loss of words when I think of the capabilities this car offer any driver with enough cash in their pocket. And the supercar world is exploding all around us for the past ~5 years. The progress these cars brought in such a short time is simply unparalleled. We've had supercar booms before but those were more about the feeling a car gives or certain aspects of the car that really stand out (design or top speed). Nowadays supercars are competing on all levels, design, technology and performance. This means there are some tradeoffs here and there but good god, the final result is mind boggling.

I'm happy to have grown up with posters of supercars of the 80ies on my walls and having Matchbox replicas of them always, happy to have seen very good shows of cars of the 90ies and their quirky designs but I think sport car enthusiasts are simply blessed to be alive today. This generation is just getting into swing and looks more promising than any of the ones before.

All this said, I really wish someone was bold enough to release an oldschool sport car. One that does not spoil you with overengineered safety solutions that compromize looks and car weight, one that does not spoil you with electronics and overly huge power, one that has no digital dials inside, only good old needles on big analog dials and offers you only the pure driving thrill at a decent price. I want a modern Testarossa, 1980ies 911, E30 M3 (not turbo 235i). That's impossible though because carmakers build cars around strict laws we can't control. I guess this 488gtb will just have to do. :)

  13. I tend to agree with the "why turbo?" question. Nothing specific. I just like the smooth power delivery of normally aspirated engines, rather than the "holy crap, where did that come from?!!" rocket booster effect of something like the F40!

That turbo lag is so 1990 my friend. These cars pull like a freight train from 2000rpm all the way to redline, throttle response is instant, fuel economy is that of an econo car of the 80ies. You can't really fault turbo cars of the 2010s. My only issue is this: Were you interested enough and had mechanical inclination, you could tear down a 20 year old Ferrari and do maintenance yourself. On today's cars you need an OEM software just to pull back the pistons in the caliper for a brake pad change which is one of the simplest jobs you could imagine on older cars. In that sense owner loose a lot of intimacy with their cars (IMHO) but this is the sacrifice you make in the name of progress, it seems.

Good article but depends a lot on your definition of a good motor. Some people love turbo lag, some people love NA and some people love small or variable turbos and smooth power delivery. Sport cars have been made with all layouts and you can't say any of them is really undesireable.

The F40 is my most favorite car in the world by a large margin but I couldn't imagine owning one. And I don't mind modern cars trying to hide their turbos at all. I am very happy I can enjoy good torque and horsepower figures as low as 2000 rpm because I am not going to drive a car close to redline day in and day out. Take it to the extreme here, an F40 as a car is a toy, a 488 gtb is a daily driver and a track weapon. Again, I don't see the problem with either.

Talks like the one in the article are so full of personal opinion they belong on personal blogs. Chris Harris has his car preferences but he will cackle like a maniac in any car that can get his juices flowing. And that is all that matters at the end of the day when driving a sports car. Feeling a rush, feeling excitement, feeling joy, is it not? NA, huge turbo or small turbo, they can all deliver on this.

  16. It was a blog. Jalopnik is basically that.

The real problem here isn't so much that Turbos are "too good", it's that nobody's gonna build violent ones anymore. All in the name of "efficiency".

I mean, how hard would that be with all that tech to give us a "mental" driving mode that makes the turbo, a turbo ?

Though I'm a big big big McLaren F1 (LM) fan, and I love cars like M3 CSL, Porker GT3 and NA Ferraris (250SWB, GTO, 330P4, 512LM, BB(i), 456, 430, 458 etc) etc so much, probaly the 'fastest' and most iconic cars the world has ever seen sometimes have a turbo or two on it.
    288GTO/Competizione(my avatar), F40(Competizione), 2002 Turbo, Porsche 917, 935 Turbo, 956(fastest car ever on the Ring), 962, 959, newer GT2, GrB rallycars like SportQuattro, 205T16, Delta S4, RS200,, the Delta Integrale, Sierra Rs Cosworth/Escort Cosworth, WRC cars...and 1M, new M3/4(M4 I drove, it's terribly fast, no lag) :)

The trend in having smaller more MPG engines combined with a turbo is a greener way to build engines, but has 'nothing 'to do with the cars(brands) above imho.

    488, I love it.

    Cheers
    Robin

I understand your point of view, you like the big laggy turbos. Well the general population does not, lawmakers do not so they don't get made, this has to do with my paragraph about wanting to see a manufacturer have the balls to build an oldschool car. Well they won't, all projects are governed by the terrible constrictor triangle that are: budgeting constraints(which include profitability projections), adhering to safety and pollution rules, weak driving skills of the general population that can afford a 100k + car.

This makes building your kind of car... VERY HARD.
