Hm, so doing a really good line in T2 which minimizes scrubbing means less heat there...

 

I managed a 1:12.6 on my third fast lap (ninth lap in total). Used the same settings (track and car) as Aris. Had no problems getting the tires hot.
After that I was "consistent" on 1:13. The main problem was the ghost car blocking my view and me starting to lose focus .
I never got Village and The Link right so I know there is time to gain.

I found shifting earlier gives a tenth, maybe two, over such a short lap.

Still, it's easy to take for granted the experience required to be quick. I was able to get under 1:12 with a best of 1:11.8, but I know that was a pretty good lap, too. A lot of people are going to be very happy to just be in the 1:12's and 1:13's at all.

I think Aris has time to gain as well. He has splits that are better, but not a complete lap and also it was just to show the basics.

It has nothing to do with being faster than anyone else, it is about being a faster self.

you are probably right, what is puzzling me is that in the exact same situation Aris tires were all bright green.

 

Why is Aris using "practice"-mode in his video? Wouldn't "hotlap"-mode be better for this purpose (hunting better lap times)? You could have a ghost car if you want to. You could use tire-blankets and wouldn't have to waste time with warming up the tires...

I think the goal of this video is not to have the fastest lap, it's to help people improve their driving techniques and lap times.

 

the purpose of the video is to allow us to practice to improve, concentrating on our lines and braking points at this time, watching the replay to see what we are really doing, so practice mode seems appropriate, following the ghost would lead us to repeat the same mistakes again and again, instead of trying to adopt a new way.
A better lap time as to be the reward of driving better, not the ultimate goal, at this point.

 

It's me, Laurent from the server. My tires were green after 3 laps. You have to push a bit harder to get the temps in the tires.

 

Mmmh, seems I have to shift earlier then, I'm shifting when they start blinking red..

 

Hey, was nice to be with you on the server, good to know you tire were green, gives me hope, when I find the 1.5 second to have the same pace as you.
I wish more of us here would be on the server, it as Argentina in the name, it is empty now, , I would be glad to race people who are lapping in 1.13.000, those in the 1.12.ooo could race you.
I am going back there now.

 

Yeah, if short shifting is faster I should be able to get in the 1.11 easy. Try pushing some more in the corners to get the tires green, you'll be much faster then.

Yes probably, but from the 2 races we did, following you for 20 laps, you might gain consistency with more consistent race line, doing one lighting fast lap is great, doing 10 is even better.
Yes I will push more, thank you for the advice, but first I want consistant optimum lines. 1.13.009, for me it is already much faster than next week, if I can do it 10 times in a row, that mean a lot to me. Then it will be time to set those tire on fire.

I never really played with the tire pressure. The tips is quite useful for me. The car setup for track condition play a much larger role than driving skill in AC.

Did you watch the whole video? He literally gain 2 seconds on a small track just by changing the tire pressure.

 

So I gained 1s/1min everywhere by buying new PC and new Monitor. Everything counts.

 

It looks like it's you not paying attention when watching the video, he gained 2 seconds by improving his line (down to 1:13), and he gained 1 second by adjusting pressure (1:12).
