1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

GT3 -cars speculation: Anything coming?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat Room' started by RobertLidstroem, Apr 26, 2016.

  1. Hi, fellas!

Well i love Blancpain GT Series and mostly does career after career adding odd subdecent mods to keep the grid uptodate.

I have read somewhere rumours about some 30 cars beeing in the pipeline at Kunos. As much as i would love to have alot more Alfa Romeos (33 Stradale, 1750 GTAm, TZ1, TZ2, Giulietta SZ and SV ) - i think there is a bigger chance of getting more GT3 cars.

    So any chance of 488 GT3 , BMW M6 GT3?

I feel the opposite: too much GT3 already. Besides, they are not exciting to drive imo.
I'd like to see more retro racing cars (Group C, IMSA GTO, Group 5 for example).

But having a whole series of cars in the game that are competable is, in my opinion, better than one car each from whatever other series. Also with GT3 happening at this moment it will be much easier to replicate the cars than hunting after old IMSA or Group C cars. Plus those GT3 class cars are what people want to use in leagues.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love cars from those series' you listed. If I were to decide we'd have all Top Ten cars from last decades VLN races :D

Yes, i agree that it’s important to have more or less complete series in the game, however, we already have a handful of GT3 cars available to chose from.
I think it would be nice to fill other series: what about a competitor for the McLaren F1 GTR? A Ferrari 330 p4 to compete against the Ford GT40? Adding the Audi V8 DTM to the existing 90s DTM cars?
A slower cup car like the Renault Clio would also be great and make up for some nice close racing. These are all possibilities which I’d prefer over yet another GT3 car.

Agreed. We already have 7 or 8 GT3 cars which is more than enough to make a fairly complete series, but that's the only series we can come close to making because most of the other cars are one-off's with no complimenting cars to race with them. I'd much rather a couple cars get added to other classes because right now our only real options are a GT3 series or one-make races. The Alfa 155, BMW E30 DTM, Abarth AC, and Ford Escort really, really need some friends to play with.

I can accept that GT3s are current and popular. The sim needs them.

I do feel AC is a bit too heavy with road supercars. Some more realistic hot hatch and track day type stuff would be good for variety and they tend to have single make cup type competitions in reality.

The hardest part into licensing & creating those cars you mention is correct & accurate data.
GT3 cars are "easy" to create since the data is available (for the most part).
Getting data on older cars is hard a.f. and that might be one of the reasons that there aren't too many of those cars.

ps. if GT3's aren't exciting, try driving them on & over the limit. Fun guaranteed!

GT3's might not be "exciting" to drive, or too easy/stable/tamable, but I think they provide awesome races and battles throughout the entire grid. They carry very decent speeds, you still need experience with braking, turn-in and exit to take the car to the limit, and manufactures diversity so you can choose your beast that has your style. How can that be not fun and enjoyable?

iRacing has Blancpain license. I think it'll be hard for AC to acquire it but I also think that's not really necessary. Just license the cars and green green green.

BMW M6 and the Ferrari 488 would be top priorities for me. Then the Bentley Continental and the Aston Martin (Vantage?).

I'd also say, stop wasting resources on road cars that people will play once or twice against the AI and never touch it again, and prioritize race cars and different categories for online leagues and championships (where you should all be racing honestly). Like WTCC, BTCC (Honda Civic pls), IMSA, Indy, you name it...

is there a specific time of day we are allowed to drive these race cars? or is that up to us :D

we have so many cars already, I wish kunos would try and target cars that will work with those we already have and spend the dosh on tracks there after :p I already feel like they might have spread themselves a bit thin. so many cars to check with each update!

Wait so for over 2 years I've been actually doing it wrong?!
Don't assume that if there's something you don't do/like it's the same for everyone.

It's hardly wasting resources if I'm racing road cars in MP almost everyday. Almost only because I don't play everyday. And it's hardly wasting not because I'M RACING, but if there are people I can race against it means they are interested in them too.

I also don't get that "focus on X because that's what I like, nobody likes Y so screw it" - and it's not only about content but also about features. Luckily KS is doing the best they can to provide something for everyone.

    I hate these gt3 cars
    on the other hand
the best battles I had was racing in them
but imo: get some touring cars instead of another gt3 license
(again on the other hand: full license is a big selling point, but still imo: touring cars ftw!!) :D

I think both sides to the argument are valid. It's nice to have more GT3 cars and even the full licence. I do however agree that there are a lot of lonely cars that need some friends to play with, the Ford Escort being the perfect example.

If I was to choose, then I would say focus on creating another class, either by adding more cars to the existing cars or by creating a whole new class, for example BTCC.

I remember reading the 2016 Audi R8 LMS is on it's way, is that confirmed? Would be nice to see the Ferrari 488 GT3 and BMW M6 GT3 at some point, and probably the more realistic options.

Would also be nice to see some additions to the GT2/GTE class. A modern touring car class would be nice too.

    From the dev blog:
There is a lot going on under the hood with about 30 new vehicles in production, including new entries for classes already included in Assetto Corsa, with the aim to make the simulation even better, more enjoyable, offering a selection of cars suited for everyone. We are evaluating the option of implementing championships in order to allow users to create proper seasons with any car of their choice.

Let's see what they have in their hat.
They have licensed the 488 street car at the moment the gt3 doesn't seem to have more performance that the predecessor at least in blancpain.
More gt4 and old DTM and touring cars would be cool.
