New on this game... got few questions.

hi,
I am new on this game, new on sim racing. My question os i see alot of mods out there, would i be able to play ONLINE if i install any mods?
Any suggestion where i could watch or read tutorials to become a good player on assetto corsa? Thanks in advance for all the future poster

 

Welcome to the community and sim racing at large! You can play online with mods. Also just looking up any proper videos on driving technique will help you get better.

You mean that is ok? Even with cars that did not come with the game?would the other players see my car as what ever mod i have? Sorry i am noob.

 

You can only join a server with cars they specify on the server, so you won't run into a problem where you join with a car which others can't see.

 

The other people on the server would need to also have the mod installed to race with you.

I playd alot of fps games like bf4 and they dont allow mods on those game that is why i asked lol. That is cool then, are there still alot of server that run this game with out any mods?

Another question.

Is there any settings that i have to turn down in video settings that causes fps drop?
I tan this game @ 1440p around 70-110 fps ultra. But sometimes i get occational fps drop.

 

Not sure your setup but the settings to look at first is smoke. This has always been an fps killer in larger fields and even more so with sli. Then also look at reflection settings which also are quite fps heavy with larger fields even on higher end setups.

Stefano posted that he has improved smoke rendering so a future update should help quite a bit with this.

 

I got gtx 980.. I am aware which video setting eat alot pf fps.. But what i mean by " which setting do i have to turn down" is,is there any settings that has bug that causes fps drop?. But any way thanks for the answers. AC community has more mature players than on fps games lol just my opinion..

I just started going to racing games. Just bougth my first g27 wheel.. And i love it i am looking forward to buy more games like PC and maybe once i get better on driving i will eventually join i racing.. I'll practice more in career mode and hopefully in the future i'll race with ypu in one of the race track.. Happy racing and thanks again.. Please feel free to add me as a friend..

 

As I said above smoke and reflection settings, if you know that these are the ones that eat a lot of FPS would it not then be wise to turn these down first.

All other settings have no major effect on me and shouldnt do much for a 980 so I just keep them maxed, smoke lowered will greatly reduce the FPS drop at the start of the race or when other cars ahead go off track. Experiment with this try ultra start at the back of a grid, then try off and notice the difference. Next try the other settings and see which setting has the least impact, do the same with reflection settings and you will find the best settings to avoid any fps drops and keep the game looking good.
