1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Questions about the graphics engine

These questions are related to bringing night racing to Assetto Corsa.
1 - Is the graphics engine property of Kunos?

2 -If not, can Kunos influence the strategic development of the graphics engine mainly to bring multiple sources of light?

3 - As all software evolves, is there a road map for night racing implementation on the graphics engine?

4 - Is there a road map for rain implementation on the graphics engine? (on the physics side, I am sure Kunos has all it takes to implement it).

I`m pretty sure those questions have been asked and answered numerous times?

I bet there's not one person that has AC that wouldn`t love to see those features, but I for one, will not be holding my breath :)

This was asked and disc. many times. For historic research use search.

anyway some answers out of my rememberings (could be not accurate since Im feeling a bit old today)

1 - Is the graphics engine property of Kunos?
    - Yes

    2 -If not, ...
    - It is.

3 - As all software evolves, is there a road map for night racing implementation on the graphics engine?
    - Dunno, because of non public roadmap.

4 - Is there a road map for rain implementation on the graphics engine? (on the physics side, I am sure Kunos has all it takes to implement it).
    - Dunno, because of non public roadmap.

    1. Yes, except the extra post processing effects that come from a 3rd party middleware named "yebis"
    2. Yes we can
    3. Maybe in the long term. Short term we're focused on making the existing game more optimized, better and improve the gameplay features both in Multi and AI right now. Development goes on cycles. [Short term=months - Long term=years]
    4. See 3. Also there is no timeline nor we are willing talking about it as it would lose focus for us and generate unnecessary and false hype to users.

    edit: @nonnex ninja'd me.

Is there a way to grant access to the graphics engine to the community so they can work on the lights?

That would not make sense. Imagine the endless work in making the "2" engines merge with all the progress made in between.
If Kunos said "There, fini, no changes from now one, here´s the engine", then yes, it would make better sense.

Its not all just about adding the lighting etc its making it work, take Pcars for example the engine is pretty good and has very nice lighting and weather effects. For me it runs great as it should on a fairly high spec setup but look at all the complaints on consoles with FPS drops in heavy rain and night time. I am pretty sure that most people would need to turn many things down to have useable thunderstorms at nite there so its not going to be such a highly used feature. For me its about the only really cool thing in the game but it also has some nice tracks and some cars that are ok to drive.

Id more like for the shorter term in AC to simply have working time of day transition and weather effects transitions along with ambient and track temps as these change. This could be implemented much easier as its already coded into the engine to a point. Well time of day transition works in SP just not MP. Weather is just fixed but having an option to go from fog to clear or heavy cloud during the sessions would be a great start, also would be nice to finally run in mp in something other then 26/32 temps. ;)

A lot in AC is placeholders, I have faith that we'll soon see changing temperatures matching the weather along with many other features put there but not working properly yet.

    - lights
    - night
    - rain

    why we need this?

    - because lights are usefull for night, fog, rain racing

    - night because we want a full 24h race simulated

    - rain because we want a complete simulator and feel like heroes completing a race during heavy rain, because in nkPro was fantastic, so why go a step back?

For who says no one plays with this settings on MP, this was the past, 2000 technology wasn't good enough to emulate and play it the proper way in MP, now, in 2015, we ask for a proper and complete simulator...PC was waiting for a real SIM (with capital letters), so let AC be that sim...

yes but still unfinished, more than AC...also not interessed on wich sim is better, I play and prefer AC, so I am talking only about it here...

How is rF2 less finished than AC if I may ask?
Its physics are more accurate, deep and complete than AC's. rF2 is more feature complete as well.

Not the place to talk about it, this is AC forum, so I will talk only about AC and my hopes about this game. Rf2 is a great sim too, but they are still far from what I will call a "finished product", I love it but still waiting to know where ISI are aiming at (dx10 support?we are near to dx12, modding support with semplified tools?, etc etc) but I have great hopes about it too. AC is a different game, more "simplier" (not the bad way) so requires less work to be finished and polished.
    Peace.
