1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Simracing on consoles a dead end street?

I pretty much exclusively play just racing titles, Assetto, pCars, F1, Dirt Rally (occassionally) and spend varying time on each of them depending on which league I am racing on any given weekend. There are still plenty of guys and gals out there that enjoy racing on console and will continue to do so for plenty of time to come I'm sure so I don t think racing on that format is quite ready to be put out to pasture just yet.

I've owned consoles since the Atari 2600 first came on the market...and the same with computers and the Commodore 64.

Over the years I cannot tell you how many games I have bought, only to tire of.

Then I bought AC on PS4.

I don't need more cars or tracks, because I haven't mastered those that I already have.

It is the nearest thing that I've discovered to real driving - to date.

This game keeps me coming back in a way that no other game has over the past 40 years.

One more tenth; the perfect apex; the later braking point...this is what keeps me focused...and interested!

If it comes to a point where I cannot access this on console, then I will build a gaming PC.

Long live racing SIMS on console.

I couldn't disagree with the original premise more. For years, consoles lacked any kind of sim-racing titles. Everything was focused on arcade style games like early versions of Forza, Burnout, and even GranTurismo. The thing to remember that everyone's bar for "true simulator" is different, so no single person can assert any authority over what is, or isn't sim-racing on consoles.

When ProjectCARS hit consoles, the initial reviews were pretty harsh. They couldn't understand how this game would appeal to console users. Up until that point, it was believed that console users A) wouldn't tolerate a steep learning curve, and B) wouldn't invest in expensive sim-racing gear. Both of those assumptions turned out to be wrong, and as a result, we got Assetto Corsa on consoles some time after. Now we're about to see pCARS 2 and GranTurismo Sport released on consoles.

Does this mean that console sim-racing has risen to the level of PC sim-racing? No. Does this mean that pCARS 2 is a "true simulator"? How about we banish that term from our vocabulary? We're all very away of the feelings about pCARS 1 physics in this community — for what it's worth, I can't stand to drive in pCARS 1 any more — but it is undeniable that pCARS is a simulator. The pCARS developers failed to implement a physics model that accurately reflects reality, but they absolutely set out to simulate a racing environment.

IMO, the future looks bright. I'm not willing to call pCARS 2 a win, because I haven't played it yet. I'm skeptical, to be honest, but from a sim racing perspective, there appears to be a lot of really great stuff coming in pCARS 2. My hope is that Kunos will be looking over their shoulder a bit, and we'll see another release of Assetto Corsa that has a better implementation of console gaming features. In other words, I think we're just getting started.

The future is bright for sim racing on consoles.

Couldn't agree more, the more titles there are on the market the the more it will push developers to come up with something new

My analogy with racing sims is with paintings.

Cars are like paints and tracks are the canvases on which the host (artist) brushes his genius (car / track combinations). We can have as many paint colours as we want, but without lots of differently shaped canvases, the painter will be very constrained. Tracks are very important, too. Fortunately, there are lots of ignored real tracks around the world, in Australia, Africa, Asia, Canada / US, etc., that Kunos can get cheaply.

I have made very good use of sims with about 70-75 cars. As a host, it's the tracks that helped me make good, fun, challenging combos.

    More tracks, please!

If Kunos wants to get cheap tracks, they definetly must not go to other continets. But in Europe, must be a million cheap tracks.
