1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

And yet those ultra lean running engines ended up absolutely not relevant to the real world. Running at that level of efficiency, the way they do it, produces a ****load of very poisonous NOx. You will never ever see that tech transferred into road cars.

They don't need too. F1 is research and development, testing the bleeding edge of technology. It's like with any research department, what they come up with isn't the final product but a proof of concept. There could be hundreds or thousands of innovations that make it into production cars that we couldn't think of and even the engineers couldn't foresee at the start. They could be something minor like a sensor, valve, or a piece of software. Just because the power unit itself isn't suitable for a road car doesn't mean that there's nothing that can be transferred to the road.

Although, having said that Mercedes are making a road car with their F1 hybrid power unit in it so once it's turned down it's obviously within European regulations.

Overall using racing as a lab for road tech is inefficient.

You seriously think they are putting the F1 powerunit in their car ? Regardless how turned down it might be? Come on.:D That's called marketing.

Formula E is pushing so hard for the much needed advancement of "battery pack" tech that they have been forcing a unique supplier for the whole field and will keep doing that until at least 2019. Way to push for the improvement on the technology.

So we can then write a mail to all the car journos to tell them how the cool concept version drives as they complain about how tame (again) the actual production car has turned out :-D

Tell that joke to car enthusiast with an old 2 stroke Saab as it is normal for him, well, sort of.

50 liter is too much unless he carry some jerrycans ...

I still remember having to dribble a little oil into every tank of gas I put in my moped. Don't miss that. Do miss the 'ped, though.

Why? They already last 5/6 race weekends with 5 bar boost and extremely limited cooling opportunities. Surely you’ve just got to tweak it to meet the emissions regs. It’s just an engine.

Honestly, our only hope is BMW's 2018 WEC GTE entry. I honestly can't understand why the BMW M6 couldn't be made though....every other major sim has either an official model or a licensed mod...considering BMW's partnership with Kunos...strange. Alas not meant to be....maybe BMW was scared of the physics...rumor is the car has been somewhat of a flop...the inception of the M6 GT3 started back in 2010 when the privately entered Alpina B6 cars all but spanked the Z4's performance at the Nordschleife....but 6 years later, GT3 market's changed, and the big ol' M6...was out of it's league imho. Every manufacturer is going to mid-engine to be competitive, esp. with the wins in WEC, Tudor, etc. all by mid-engine cars by Porsche, Ford, and Ferrari...ah that Aston is a lonely sight :(...with Kunos' somewhat iffy sounds, maybe it's best they didn't model the M6 GT3...I doubt they would have properly modeled the unique turbo spool under breaking :D:p

Of course the F1 or other kinds of supercar tech don't make it 1:1 into every day cars, but some years ago an engineer from Bugatti (I think one of the project managing iirc) was at our university (brought a Veyron with him :D ) and answered questions.

Yes, the project in itself didn't really cover the cost the get from selling the cars, but (apart from PR/marketing) it's a actually a way for them to develop and try new materials, functions and other stuff that might find it's way into regular production cars where you would never get the budget to try such stuff on a normal car/engine.

I.e. they used 2 fuel pumps instead of 1 big one because the big one would only be specific for the 1000+ bhp Veyron, but 2 smaller ones could be used for other 500-600 bhp cars in the VW/Audi group.
Or because of the W engine the piston rods are narrower than in an inline or V engine, where it was necessary to find a suitable material for the bearing shells.
On the bearing shells it turned out that these would be too expensive for a normal car, but that is also the point of all of it. Try what you can do and see what might be applicable for normal cars.
