Weather slider: just saying thanks

Just wanted to leave a comment on that I like the different weather settings very much. I also smile about that the way they did it is exactly the way I suggested some months ago - may be due to my comment back then, or may be just coincidence, it doe snot matter: that it is there is what counts.

I change by routine now between light fog, clear, sunny with clouds and light overcast. It gives the tracks so dramatic a change in atmosphere and mood. The more extreme settings I chose intentionally more seldom.

Kunos Team: the proper German translation would be "klar" , not "löschen".

 

It's not proper weather. Without wind and precipitation it's just lighting changes and visibility changes. Imagine a yachting simulator with this "weather". To be honest all it does it make rain and wet roads all the more conspicuous in their absence, and the fact that inclusion of these features is all but impossible is really a poor reflection on AC.

And yes, wet roads should be as important to racing/car simulator as wind is to a yachting simulator.

 

Until we get a dynamic type weather, the only thing I can see to improve this would be to have the option to pick up live, local weather settings based on selected track. yea we can do this manually, but would be nice to have it automated.

Temperature, time of day and conditions all selected automatically (as near as can be achieved at least)

Would add some feeling of dynamic conditions at least

 

Yes, it is no "real" weather, but cosmetic only, but still it does a good job to change mood and atmosphere (the temp slider and track condition slider btw are not just cosmetic...).

And yes, it would be nice to have a plethora of additional features that go far beyond anything ever being planned for AC originally. There is always a way to bog down the repair of the construction sites there already are: AI, race event presentation, career mode, some MP things.

What was wanted for the time being, was a fast, quick and visually effective way to quickly change those things the slider now indeed changes, without needing to use an external app or manual procedure to change weather files externally, and to get that feature implemented without hacking away time from work on other important, more important feature. And that is what they delivered. Maybe its not the fulfillment of everybody's dreams - but it is a quick and cost-effective way to get dealt with the demand for the time being. Economic solution - well done! Lets get back to this not before when the other, more important thing have been fixed.

 

If only they worked in MP, hopefully soon. But yep, it's nice feature.
