1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Weird and unrealistic FFB behavior

  1. I noticed that while a car is stopped or moving at low speeds the steering wheel is very easy to rotate with almost no resistance at all in exact contrast to a real car steering behavior where the wheels are hard to rotate in the same situations. I remember the exact problem with rfactor about a decade ago when it was first released, but fortunately a plugin named "RealFeel" was written and among other things fixed this unrealistic behavior which is very annoying on tracks with low speed corners, not to mention that it shouldn't happen at all in a "simulator". I was wondering if such a correction program or app could be written for AC by someone in the community if not by the developers.

  3. Add some dampening in your wheels control panel.

  4. That would not fix it not to mention destroying the "pure" FFB feel pretty much completely.

Not sure how you have your steering wheel configured, but adding damping probably does fixes your problem.
Damping in AC will make your steering wheel very stiff when stopped and it will go away when you start rolling. It's all automatically controlled by AC

Dampening in AC only affects stationary cars. So you have more resistance while turning at stand still. It shouldn't affect the rolling car.

    Edit: Ninja'd by Aris.

  7. Please, tell me more about what it will or will not do without actually trying it.

  8. I have a Fanatec GT2 wheel, but I never liked adding any dampening to the steering. If the damping will go away completely that would be a possible solution, but still seems to be artificial since its a wheel setting and not something that the sim "simulates". I remember that with the "RealFeel" plugin, which BTW its still used today by the developers of GSCE, when turning the wheels while stopped they would "feel" like the tires "grabbing" on the asphalt as in a real car. Anyway, you guys know better what can and cannot be done in AC so thanks for the advice.

It's simulated but by setting damping to 0 you're preventing it communicating that to you.

Same as if you set FFB strength to 0, it would still be simulating force feedback but you wouldn't feel any of it. It's not like you put FFB strength to 100 and the wheel just gives you a constant "100% to the right" force; by the same token if you set damping at 100% the wheel's not going to give you 100% damping all the time, it'll vary based on the game's signal.

Damping is (iirc) a 2nd order effect which makes it more prone to oscillation and other issues if you tried to implement it with FFB linear force, so if the game can calculate the appropriate amount of damping and send that to the wheel it leads to smoother and more realistic feedback. The wheel's drivers are in a better position to do damping.

Hopefully that quote by Aris will ease your fears of it being fake and generated by the wheel only.

Hmm, that info is new for me. So if I have Logitech wheel (G27) in the profiler settings should I set Dampening to what? Any recommendation? :)

Around 50% is a good value.

Agree, using 55% now. With 83% ingame gain and 107% in the profiler.

  17. I'm adding same value in profiler, but nothing change: for example with new mustang sterring is ultra light while car is stopped or at low speed.

BTW I don't think the 107% trick in the profiler is relevant now that we have a minimum force slider.

Isn`t this due to the 'kill FFB' feature brought in to stop the wheels oscillating while stationary, or at the very least below around 5kmh?

As above, I think the only fix is to apply damping via profiler settings.

for me its still relevant since i prefer 107 over minimum force.
Minimum force kills the dead zone but feels strange, also if youre using a LUT ff correction u have to leave MF at zero, i dont use MF neither LUT correction, both feels kinda same, but LUT give extremely smooth linear forces, witch for g27 for some reason ( im faster without it), i dont like8. ;-)
