1.10 and PP2 Impressions

718 RS is my favourite so far. difficult to get gear changes right, definitely doesnt like red line. it regains grip in strange and wonderful ways

the 962's are a close second, both very fun to drive. the short tail is easier to drive, less twitchy under braking and throttle. at Mugello my lap times were similar in both.

the GT3 RS and GT4 Cayman feel strange to me. i think i will grow to like the Cayman but i really don't like the total lack of sound off throttle in the 911. speaking of 911's the GT1 cockpit sounds aren't very nice (not speaking in terms of "realism" just don't really like it, it sounds such a beast from the outside.)

the 919 corners way faster than i was expecting. it is fun but i think the regen'/battery stuff will annoy me.

Mugello. Clipped kerb with rear left on the exit of Arrabbiata 2, car went sideways into barriers on the right side, flipped on the roof and back on wheels.
Yeah I know not the same kind of flip as on YT, but still.


The 919 is too ridiculous in corners for me to keep up with it.

Nope, I know the stuttering is realistic for this car and I like it very much that devs implemented it. What I mean that the sound seems to be without detail and distorted a little around that RPM range. Even on the linked video there is some distortion. I know it's very tricky to record cars like this without clipping, I worked with sound for a while a few years ago.

Yes, yes, I'm pretty sure the majority of us know you by know Christopher. We know that was not a criticism of KS.

I am just saying even though you don't care for those cars, you can still pay Kunos a compliment on them. Not that you have to.

 

i personally dont trust kunos' fastest compound to be 'simulation tires', though the only cars i know that to be true of are the hypercar trofeos. so hopefully thats the issue.

 

I reckon there will be plenty of compliments in the pipeline when I take the rest of the cars in PP2 out on the track

 

Can the brake pressure adjustment be used as a cheat, by dialling it in as a de facto ABS for cars that don't have it? I. E. adjusting brake pressure so you just don't lock up brakes at max pedal depression?

Tried only the GT4 Cayman, GT3RS and 919 so far, loving the latter two, just mindblowing, Cayman will probably grow slower on me..

 

Theoretical yes, but the pressure for threshold braking is not consistent for different speeds.
So either no locking but not full braking power at higher speeds or vice-versa, though you can tune it how you like.


But seriously, 0.2% increments for brake bias in the 919.

 

I believe that was the reasoning for not including it sooner, because it could be used to "cheat". But several other racing sims have this feature and I'm not aware of it being a rampant problem (but then most people probably wouldn't admit to doing it anyway).

but surely SOMEONE would? personally, if youve got the pedals for it, i cant imagine wanting less that 100% response. but its very helpful for crap pedals or gamepads. i had just been using ABS w/ stock TX pedals; its as realistic & a lot less frustrating.

 

Although I have yet to try it, I don't know if I like the sound of that - an artificial braking assist to make driving easier. Just because other sims have it, that's no reason to have it here (otherwise we'd have a lot of other features too).

 

Practically no. People could limit their maximum pedal travel to achieve same effect before which I could see as more like "cheating". Tuning your brake performance to match tyre's longitudinal capacity is just realistic. Now everyone has this possibility by default.
