1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

  1. I would love to see vids or pics of any sim dev team acquiring chassis flex data. (and there are plenty of self proclaimed sim experts that will state as fact that AC doesn't simulate tire flex since it isn't represented visually)

  2. you're right I didnt read the message you were replying to properly.
I stand corrected in your case :p

    Actually it's in controller.json.
    Have you checked?

I asked this before and didn't get a convincing answer: what are these if not fake effects in the controller.json file?

    "Jolt magnitude":1.5,
"Jolt magnitude#":"How strong jolts from other cars (or walls) are. Suggested Range: -2.0 to 2.0.",
    "Off-road multiplier":0.3,
"Off-road multiplier#":"Temporary test variable to reduce force feedback strength off-road (0.0 = zero FFB, 1.0 = full FFB)",
    "Rumble strip pull factor":1.5,
"Rumble strip pull factor#":"How strongly wheel pulls right\/left when running over a rumble strip. Suggested range: -1.5 to 1.5.",
    "Rumble strip update thresh":0.05,
"Rumble strip update thresh#":"Amount of change required to update rumble strip effect (0.0 - 1.0)",

    Anyway,
Again,FFB in RF2 only comes from tires that sends the info for the steering rack,no canned effecs used, even the ruber flex is feeled, just use Motec to see it,but i must deal whit noobs here, the only person here crdible is Lord Kunos, since he is a dev,not some random guys that probably dont even know how a real car works.

If you're such an expert why don't you explain to me what those things do???

Then what are these json values for?

Can someone explain to me what "canned effects" exactly mean and why is it bad?

I'm just a noob as it was pointed out, so take this as my humble opinion: canned effects are FFB that do not directly come from the physics engine. For example in AC, if you have a completely flat surface that is marked as a kerb and have the Kerb canned effects set to 100% than your wheel will rumble when your tires go over that surface.

I personally don't think that canned effects are bad, unless they are exaggerated, which I think some of them are in rF2. I reduced the "Rumble strip pull factor" to a value that feels way more natural than the default one on my wheel.

    Thx for the explanation.
But I don't agree on one point.
As I see it all these effects do come directly from physics engine and each sim has its built-in coefficients.
In some sims like rf2 they are exposed in json file for people to change them based on their personal likings.
These efects are present in each sim but when they are not in line (too strong) with peoples perceived expectations of what should be felt in a wheel then they are called canned.
Rf2 has some default coefficients too big making those effects "canned".
But they are still coming from physics engine, right?
Rumble strip effects are felt only when sim car goes over rumble strips.

    "Clutch effects on steer axis":0

You're a *****, or a troll. Considering you only have 6 posts total on this forum, all shilling rF2... I would say you are both.

    Dont come back please.

There is a difference between effects being used (by default) and a possibility to turn them on through config file.

"Yeah but... these specifically labeled canned effects dont count in this case because I said so."
