How fast can you change gears?

@Psit: C'mon we both know that miss-shift topic is overrated. When I used to do RD Club races with H shifter it would be no issue to pump the 40minute distance without a single miss-shift. iRacing's h shifter system is a 100 times more prone to misshifts.
About a 2 hour margin would be something you might start being mildly fatigue influenced and still it's very likely for things to be so spread out at that point to not be under any pressure to force any miss-shifts.

 

I dont understand how people can be so shortsighted.....

The option to drive a manual car with paddles is only there to accommodate those that dont have a shifter.
It's an assist, to simulate the manual change of gears, when you cant do it yourself. (due to lack of equipment)

As such it needs to simulate the time it takes somebody to change gears manually, with a shifter.
What do you think that time should be?
Should it be the time it takes one of the WR setters to change a gear?
Or should it be that of the slowest in the game? (those that need 2:30+ to take a 312T around SPA for example)
Rhetorical question, but I'll answer it, just in case... AVERAGE
The time it takes a guy that qualifies with 312T at SPA with a time around 2:22 (according to RSR bell curve)

Yes it sucks that Hany always beats Niki and his paddleshifting, but it equally sucks when a slower guy gets 1 and 2 secs per lap faster just by switching from shifter to paddles.

For the tl;dr crowd: Some will find it faster, others slow. Only difference is who's more vocal.....

Hope you're saying this because it has changed, since the last time I played you could put the gear you wanted earlier and when you wanted the change just kick the clutch.
Hope that's not what you want for AC!

As for miss-shifts, what can I say, UDAMAN.
The rest of us mere mortals though are prone to a few of them, even in 10-lap races.

@djkostas iracing shift requires a minimum time that you need to comply to for some sport of mechanical limitation, lets say a minimal time you need to engage your clutch to shift the gear up. This prevents milliseconds shifts.

You made a good point showing auto clutch should be some sort of avg, not what the slowest not the fastest shifts are but some sort of avg. Maybe you should also consider the style of driving. Atm in roadcars it feels very casual haha.

Bcos its a sports driving I'd say once u lift off, u should immediately go back on throttle without a pause. And the way auto clutch is done now it requires a pause. That's that issue it creates, because we are doing racing with those cars.. And on h shifter you can do racing shifts not just sports shifts all the while paddles are stuck on casual. :/
