1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

less cpu intensive ai would be great

I thought it may have been the mod to start with. Then I realised it's the actual game itself that's the problem

No. It happens to Kunos cars too

  4. It's frustrating when people want to find excuses to not see possible issues...

Ps. There's already an image above where the same symptons are captured with Kunos car.

Maybe you could log your cpu and gpu usage and clock speeds to see if something is throttling or idling.

I cannot see the difference in swarms of AI cars around my car dogfighting me:eek: matter whether they use simplified physics, or real physics like my own car. The AI cars in Raceroom around me during a race, and the AI cars of AC around me during logging my laps, look both physically convincing to me. I see no difference there between AC and Raceroom. I simply have no time to check the AI cars physics behaviour during the race, I am busy with staying in control of the physics of my own car, no matter what physic engine it uses, AC or RR.

What I note very obviously however is an AI behaving more stupid, and one behaving much less stupid. And there is where the problem with AC's AI lies. Its not about top speeds. Its not about lap times, AC's AI is damn fast, way too fast for me. Its their behaviour, the lack of fighting, the habit to line up like pearls on a string. Them beeing too slow is not the issue.

Other sims are not perfect in this. But they are way much better in this, especially Raceroom, which currently has the best AI I have ever seen in a racesim I tried.

I assume the basic design of AC has original physics embedded so deeply into the AI calculation that it now cannot be changed anymore, and I also assume that this costs more CPU ressources than needed (to have AI cars on original physics - why the investement if the difference is not noticable to the player? Sims create illusions, and whether they use shortcuts or not to create them, is not relevant as long as the illusion is convincing. Its also about immersion: and the way AC's AI cars behave, is very immersion-breaking).

And maybe this link between AI calculations and complex original physics also is the reason why the AI in AC since over two years is so inferior, compared to other sim's AI, and seems to be set to be left there.

Again, since this comes up as a counter argument time and again: laptimes and slow driving are not the problem. Its about the lame behaviour of the AI, especially if left to itself (AI-AI fighting which is almost non-existent).
