1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I'm juuust getting to the point now where is only gets me a little bit.
Never had any problems what-so-ever with forward movement/accel/braking but first time I reversed - woooah.

I heard a business news report on the Oculus Rift on TV. They brought up the point of motion sickness and had a professor of Kinesiology on who had done nausea studies on the prototype. He said they had tested the Rift with a sampling of students at the University in which the students played a game on the Rift and then reported on whether they felt sick. He said that 56% of the students reported getting motion sickness within 15 minutes of playing. He said the 44% who didn't get sick thought it was a great experience.

I know Oculus claims to have improved the system to reduce motion sickness but it has to be improved by a lot to really be successful. No one will be happy if they get sick from playing.

This was the issue that kept me from preordering. I want to hear peoples experience with the final product before I buy one.

  7. The so called professor hasn't taken into account the adjustment of the body and mind to motion sickness. I really think there needs to be brain training software that helps the body acclimatise to VR to reduce motion sickness.

That's interesting but, leaves many unanswered questions.
    • How many of those people are prone to motion sickness to begin with?
    • What game(s) were used?
    • Was the Head-tracking fluid and 1:1?
    • Did the test use standing or sitting experiences?
    • High-spec PC?
    • How long did they play?
I can think of many ways to make people ill in mere seconds using VR - that's the easy part.

I'd want to have more information and see additional studies to find an average that could rule out any bias before I based any decision on this. In the end, even that would bare little weight as everyone is different, how do you know until you try for yourself?

I've seen some people react instantly after putting on the Rift - they can't remove it fast enough. Others may play for hours with zero negative impact. The average person will want to test the waters a bit at first. If all goes well, gradually increase exposure. If VR sickness is present, sleep is key to recovery. If no issues persist the next day, try again with shorter sessions. IF someone is prone to VR sickness, it is often possible to gradually increase tolerance over time.

If you have concerns, waiting until you can demo one is the safe approach.

I am sure stuff like that will happen to me once mine arrives.. ;) Already with my current 2 screen setup and race seat I've found myself reaching back for the safety belt... :D

Its simple. The first time you put VR headset in your face, you must keep quiet. First step is adjusting the lens correctly (maybe 30seconds) fitting at good position the mask to your face.second step is dont move (virtually, inside game) and only see around yourself slowly. Maybe one or two minutes it takes. Third step is start moving (or driving if we talk about driving sim) slowly. Do not turn fast and suddenly. Be care.

When you start forwarding this steps, in about 5 minutes you can do everything you want into vr style without sick problems normally.

    Sorry my english

When I started demoing my rift to friends (normally while drinking), I started off doing this, maybe easing up to something like sightline or 'welcome to oculus'.
Although I never made anyone sick, they were all relatively unimpressed.

Nowadays, I stick them straight in a formula abarth at monza :D I've still never made anyone sick apart from my wife, and I can do that without VR

I get motion sick very easilly. I can handle Track IR well though as long as it's set up properly for me. Uncommanded movements are bad, they set me off straight away but predictable movements I control myself are OK. Even looking behind and up in flight sims is OK as long as the panning is smooth, motion doesn't have to be 1:1.

I don't really see why VR should be any different.

I think that any head-tracking discrepancies are magnified in VR so it's crucial to get right. It's not something we have to set up specifically, the calculations are done automatically through software but, there were times during testing of Pcars where HT wasn't 1:1 and we knew it immediately; for most - it was unplayable.

I know people that are prone to motion sickness and can't even look at a game on a TV or monitor without getting queezy; being yours isn't that bad, I think there's a good chance that you could adapt and build tolerance over time if it is an issue. Oculus has gone to great measure to make VR a good experience for as many people as possible most people should do fine - especially if they stick to VR approved titles or those known to have proper VR support. Slower head movements at first is a good way to start out.

Jumping into VR and doing crazy stuff without understanding the possible implications are more likely to have issues but, I read about people with motion sickness using VR in very small doses to overcome it in time. In many cases, it may just be that they are determined enough to stick with it and for others, it's not worth it so they quit right away. You won't know until you try but, if your interest is strong - you have a good chance. ;)

Yeah, reversing is something to be done slowly and cautiously; looking over the shoulder might help in some cases. :)
