Why don't the fastest drivers upload vids on Youtube ?

How about you make a video of your best lap magicaldog and let the fast guys critique it and tell you what you are doing wrong.....you can watch videos of them all day long and all you are going to see is that they are driving pretty much the same line as you but are carrying just a bit more speed through every corner.....As far as accusing a guy of speeding up the video when all he was trying to do was help you, that's just unbelievably rude.

 

I guess you have to expect that when you leave out the timers

 

Magicaldog, I'm not jumping on a bandwaggon here but you made a thread and titled it "Why don't the fastest drivers upload vids on Youtube ?"
And when they do you question its authenticity?
Another reason why perhaps some aliens don't bother uploading their laps to YT?

Can you hear a difference at the pitch of the engine? I sure can. Have you added a sound mod maybe?
I don't accuse chris of deliberately speeding up the video, maybe youtube messed with his encoded file in some weird way...
I don't say that he can't go below 1.54. I just believe that this video is for some unknown reason sped up.
I always leave the laptimer on my videos on, so everybody can clearly see my lap time!

 

I got 1:54.9 and 1:54.0 respectively when timing those manually with a stopwatch. The driving seems close enough. In fact, I thought that the second one was faster than it turned out to be. Sped up like a bauss, innit.

 

I am using a sound mod, its one i found on this forum.

Does the RSR app really check for game files? Most top lap times are fine, but some seem to be bogus. There's a guy called Optimus Prime who's 4 sec faster in the last sector of Imola with the Z4 GT3.

Thank you also for showing the timer, it is better for everyone, as not every one will be as direct as magical dog and will not mention anything, but still won't take the Vid seriously without the timer running.
I am not one of the fast guy, so looking at a video like yours, is very interesting, as I might find out I am getting some of the curves wrong. In the case of the Ferrari at Imola, I do what you do, but it takes me a little bit more time.

I'm not seeing him in the top 50 times. If people find a way to cheat (so sad to cheat on a meaningless leaderboard) it seems the guys at RSR are quick to remove them.

Optimus Prime is 8th fastest.
There's also Toni Pallante in the Z4 GT3, Imola combo, with a third sector that is 3 sec faster than the rest of the world. He's still only 30th though:

And there are also other times which are less obvious, but which I also find suspect and this leads me to believe that RSR isn't doing any physics check. And if they are doing it, they're not enforcing it right now.

 

Not sure what they are doing then, only know what they have said.....Just wondering, those of you that are like me and are 5 seconds off the pace in some cars, do you thing that everybody in front of you on the leaderboard is cheating? If you are 130th on the board do you really thing at least 100 or more of them are cheating?

I could understand a few, maybe even a handful, but all of them? Really?

 

I learnt long ago to accept that there will always be people quicker than you and just to enjoy racing. I'd always choose to have a close fought race finishing in the midfield rather than having a lonely boring race and finishing 10+ seconds in front of anyone else.

Having said that, I believe the key is exit speed and braking - and in that priority order. Most of my times are about 2 seconds off the fastest posted. The other thing are setups - I don't change much but some people really know how to get an extra second or so just by tuning their car setup.

 

FWIW, I'm normally in the top 3 or top 5, if I invest some time in a track/car combo. My current hotlaps are all with the default temperature and realistic settings (tyre wear, fuel consumption, etc.), so I could even go a bit faster, if I really want to. And no, most guys out there are just genuinely fast, I know it, because I've raced a lot of them in other sims. But my point is that there are clearly cheaters out there, some are quite obvious (like in my examples above), some less so.
