ACC Blog Aris Drives

Those are basic setups, Aris did not go very indepth as he would have to spend a lot of time explaining again what he already explains in other videos... I would have wished to see a bit more indepth setup, but it was fascinating to see which times he can pull off with 3 different cars in a basic setup... I have a long way to go, first to find out how to brake as late as he does :O

 

Yeah but you can't test a lot of cars and go in depth in all of them. But yeah he as good pace + it's so cool to get to know his thought process behind his setups !

When I started with ACC I messed around with the setups to comfort my driving style. I made even the Audi go over curbs without hassle or spinning out, but my laptimes were bad.
After i watched some of Aris' streams what he says about setups and what he is able to pull out of the cars with just default agressive setup, adjusting tire pressure (according to weather and track conditions) and maybe one or two clicks in the aero balance it blew my mind.
He went 2 or 3 seconds faster with full fuel than me with 2L in hotlap mode.
So I stopped searching for a "good" setup and just do this, agressive setup, tire pressures, fuel and maybe aero one or two clicks if there is noticeble understeer or oversteer and then stick to it and learn how to drive!

 

Aris braking is really.....fascinating. And its something that happens in your brain.
Thought my braking was late, but he shows me every stream where i loose massive time.

First i was crash kidd, every corner *bamm* - >100 attempts to drive more than 1min at nords for example.
Then slow in, slow out.
Later slow in, better out. Now i must adapt not tooo slow in.... Args...
The learning never ends

 

Really glad to see I am not the only one struggling... which is why I document it all in my channels to help other beginners on their way

Same here. I thought I was slower by 3-5 seconds, depending on the track, because they had superior setup.

Then I found Aris on youtube and watched a couple of his streams and saw what times were possible with default safe setup. I realized I was overdriving the car - braking as late as possible, aggressive turn in and on the pedal as soon as possible.

Then I started breaking sooner became more gentle with the wheel and pedals,... And my times improved even though I was "going slower". Now I adjust tire pressure a little, a couple of clicks, nothing crazy. I just started with ride height to see what is different with the car and if it helps me or not. Youtube ACC hotlaps didn't help me. But Aris and his explanations did and I'm grateful because now I'm starting to understand the car I'm driving - McLaren 720S. A big plus is I'm "consistently slow" but can do 20 laps without going offtrack.

Practice, practice, practice. If I shave off 0.1sec and can do that consistently - big improvement! Then another 0.1, and so on... Thanks to Aris!

 

Exactly, this is the beauty of sim racing and this game, the learning experience and the success you have when learning new things

Yep, this should be mandatory to watch before push ignition button first time

 

I watched Romain Monti's latest video with this in mind and could see how he was passing all the cars using this technique. Before Aris video I couldn't understand how all those divebombs were prepared and executed
