1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge 208 – Arise… and rise further still

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Jan 2, 2021.

  1. Happy New Year and welcome to the Weekly Hotlap Challenge 208 - Arise… and rise further still.
A gentle Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione challenge to kick off 2021, with hearty congratulations to Sir Lewis Hamilton.

    Assetto Corsa Hotlap:
    Car: Lotus Exige S
    Track: Silverstone International

    upload_2021-1-2_17-54-23.png
The pit straight at Silverstone has been renamed the Hamilton Straight.
This is the first time any part of this most historic circuit has been named after a driver.
Having spent a Saturday afternoon, post quali, with Lewis in 2009, personally, I’m absolutely delighted. The rumours about him are completely wrong. He is relaxed, generous and good fun. He didn’t mind me trying pull Nicole either.
We have never used the Lotus Exige S in a Weekly Hotlap Challenge. The car is a favourite of the WHC 2020 Driver of the Year and guess what? He does not hold the lap record for this car and track combination either. (It took some searching!)

So keep it neat and precise for 2021 and that goes for this hotlap too!

Semislicks – Front: 30 psi Rears: 32 psi

    Assetto Corsa Competizione Hotlap:
Car: Honda NSX GT3 (2018 GT3/ not the EVO version)
    Track: Barcelona

“One of the slowest GT3 cars I think but pretty good fun to drive still.”

The NSX GT3 is an off the shelf race car, designed for endurance racing, Super GT300, GT3 and many others. It is designed to be easy to drive, but at a starting price of €465,000, it is certainly not easy on the wallet. That’s over twice the price of the road car and of very questionable value, considering what else is available in that price bracket…
How about a 600bhp Aston GT12, (£330k) an historic Lola T70 MkIII, or a pair of 1986 Toyota Group C Le Mans GTM Cars, with spares, at €169,000 each?

Ideal GT3 operating pressures are around 27.5 psi

@Totall Wrytoff - Your Saturday afternoon with Lewis sounds great. When Lewis joined the F1 scene I found him to be cocky and full of himself and very annoying. Through the years he has changed and I now see him in a totally different light. He has grown up and has turned into a humble down to earth guy. When I heard the pit straight was going to be called The Hamilton Straight I thought it was about time he was recognised for his achievements.

I'm not sure about naming parts of circuits after racers whilst they're still active.

Once they've given up then great by all means.

I think he could have had a better bit of track as well.

A straight? Anyone can drive a straight.

Best example is the Casey Stoner corner at Phillip Island. Nobody else has ever been able to do what he could there.

Wayne Gardner only got the pit straight, and that hardly ever gets mentioned.

Silverstone could have waited until Lewis retired and then renamed Copse Corner after him.

A classic corner for an historic driver.

  8. @moodyryder - I'm fairly sure the lyric is "don't you wish your boyfriend is like Wrytoff?" :)

I only evidence I have regarding the "loosen up your buttons" afternoon is a very blurred pic taken by friend who had made far too much of lunch.
Suffice to say this is the door of Nicole's bedroom in the McLaren motorhome!:D

    Can't beat that Mr Wrytoff.

Seems like that blurry filter doesn't just apply to ACC.

Tbh, I never really liked Hamilton with his "Instagram image", but I can see he has matured over the years just like @365gt mentioned. He is a lot more relaxed now and I get the feeling he is all for improving the state of current F1 cars & racing. I can see why the want to name a part of the circuit after him, even if just a straight. His consistency is certainly amazing, even though I do believe the car earned him a bit too much success, although this cannot be considered his fault at all. Often I simply do not feel he really earned it, but that is just my five cents

  15. That is the big question!

That question is comprehensively addressed and answered by Sebastian Vettel, as kindly posted above by @sissydriver .
    Seb knows better than anyone.
For me, his absolute respect says it all. Hamilton is in a completely different league to his peers.

I'm looking forward to the return of Fernando though! I hope his still "has it."

PS: Congrats on the new WR @GoodGame.eXistenZ !

Tried out the Racing Green one to start. What a great range of paint options!
There are a couple of moody purples, a fluorescent Lime and Solar Yellow is always cool.

Clearly, Laser Blue is the fastest, so will save that for the end of the week.

Of course he deserves all the respect, to finish first you have to finsh first--- - but I simply cannot ignore the ultra dominant car that the Mercedes was this decade. Russell has shown that even a "newbie" can win in this car and it has shown that Bottas is just a medicore driver (like we didn't know already :D ). My point is, the Mercedes makes the discussion about his personal performance a bit blurred and personally I find it difficult to really praise him as the best - I am just way too rational for that. This dominance goes on for such a long time now, that I personally stopped watching F1 entirely, only 2016 and maybe 2018 was somewhat interesting. Still, not Hamilton's fault.

Hmm, I see it slightly differently - I agree that the Merc is the class of the field, but Bottas is much better than mediocre despite not being a match for Lewis.
Russell is genuinely exceptional (potentially better than Lewis or Max) and of course Toto wouldn't be putting him in the car if that wasn't the case. He has been wasted in the Williams, obviously, and I don't think that all that many drivers in the pack could have done what George did a few weeks ago. In ten years time I reckon he might have a few championships to his name ;)
I totally agree that F1 is as boring as sh1t though and I'm really glad that C4 only show the "highlights" now! :D
