Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #248

Ford gt40, a classic race car with classic issues - namely the brakes lol. We'll be running the Monza Road Course from 1966. The road course is a fairly good match for the capabilities of the Gt40, T1 will test your fortitude and resolve!

Last time I tried this combo was is March of 2017. I did a 1.36.499

RSR WR 1.33.703 Most of the laptimes are in the 1.36 - 1.42 range.

How to take part -
Hot lap: To enter, select Drive > Hotlap, choose the correct car and circuit.

Please setup the session using the settings below:

Mode: Hotlap
Track: Monza 1966 Road Course
Time of day: Free Ambient
Temp: Free
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability: Free
Deadline: Sunday October 31st 2021 I usually post the results around 10pm MST.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, it’s simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used! Please post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

This is a time set at Monza. I am not sure I am at the right circuit.
The brakes don't work very well and in default settings the sweepers are a hairy mix of understeer into snap oversteer.

 

On the RSR website, I looked up Pr's fastest laps... and on PAGE TWELVE!

Monza Road Course. Great combi!
I turned up the limiter and shortened the final gear to the middle set, so making use of just 4 ratios.
The LMP car last week turned like a boat, this feels the opposite. Think, and it does.
Once again, turn 1 here is a thrilling "close-your-eyes-and-hope" affair!

 

I see you were able to figure out the right track @Totall Wrytoff. I probably should have made that a little more clear in the first post. I'll give a quick edit and make sure I do that in the next whc's.

@Pretend racer - I don't have the picture definition to see text in the pic. I see now that Monza 66 is highlighted, I can make out "66." but the image shows Monza GP.

Hopefully I won't be last again this week, I think I can get into the 1.35s....

I started with Mathieu Labbe's tune from the setup market that was designed for silverstone 66. I tweaked the tire psi, gears, camber, and brake bias. T1 is the turn that will determine a good laptime or not. First time I have ever tied for the wr! I also think it might be a first where I got the world record but didn't claim any of the fastest sectors...

That cars a death trap, I have no idea how you’ve done a 25. Every attempt I make to go quicker results in the backend very quickly over taking me with no warning. I’ve softened the rear ARB as far as it goes, but I’ll obviously have to find more.

 

I use the aggressive preset.

Try to up the diff a couple of clicks and move the brake bias forward 1 or 2%

Thats why i stiffened the front springs. For more stability on the brakes.

Lovely lap Pretend Racer. Now we are talking T.W... I'm expecting improvement..
Had a great time last night with this car and the track is perfect. I remember when I started sim racing I think this car came up after my 5th challenge or some and I had to make it very stiff and added stability in the menu. It was impossible to drive. Just very happy that now with stock settings I can enjoy the pros and cons of a car.
Think it was my last attempt though. With this new job I have to get up so early that I am too wrecked in the evening to play. All good anyway.

Thanks a lot. Actually having a great time. Had a few lifes but I was a Tennis Coach before... had a few health issues and the doctor asked to find myself an indoor job. Now I'm in Ireland and it's not California.. anyway I used the confinement to learn something new and I'm now working in an historical museum. Should've done that all my life.

Evening all, long time no see!

I slipped a disc in my back about a month ago and haven't been able to sit in my rig without a lot of discomfort until just recently

This is my first proper go at anything really since then so hoping I can improve a little bit.

Glad to see you're all still here and the WHC is carrying on as strong as ever
