NVidia 2080 Super

Ok. That changes things a little. If I understand well, in VR you render everything twice. Since the rendering of additional objects is hitting CPUs hard in ACC (UE4?!?), the CPU stress might be an awful lot higher than for my 2D setup. In that case, an 8700 wouldn't suffice, anymore.

I have experience and data for 2D screens, mostly. You might want to open some sort of VR benchmark thread with a fixed test scenario, like here: https://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/the-acc-gpu-benchmark-thread.53426/

There's a lot of complaining going on regarding VR performance and everyone has their theory on what components matter the most, what's important and what not. I'm wondering why nobody has made such a benchmark thread, yet to collect data and give proper purchase advise.

 

I don’t really have VR performance issues, it is locked at 45. More is always nicer though and I will be upgrading to AMD’s newest CPU, whichever is fastest/highest overclocking single core

 

As per the reviews that were released yesterday the 2080 Super will be using a fully enabled TU-104 die (3072 cuda cores) and not a cut down TU-102 die (4352 cuda cores) as used in the 2080ti so expect it to remain quite a bit slower. There is no confirmation at this time of a 2080ti Super being released at a later date.

I'm thinking to upgrade from my GTX 1070 to the new RTX 2070 Super. Price vs performance is more appealing now, and as I play only on VR my goal is to "brute force" more graphics quality because 90 fps is impossible atm on ACC. I'm planning to upgrade my R7 1700 too when the new Zen 2 CPUs hit the market to get more juice to feed the GPU.

Do you think it's worth the change?
