I thought that this is a good thread for people (who are not associated with mod including testers - because it is self promotion then) to discuss what they think are good/best (or some to disagree) mods. Not just brainlessly post a link, I think you shouldn't even post links there, why on earth link is needed if you can find things with google in 20 seconds. IDK if it is terrible for any thread go slightly offtopic, you can always go back, even though it is a bit annoying, but whatever.

 

Conversations naturally diverge from the main topic. Some forum admins take a critical view of it, but I personally think that it is a natural consequence of human interaction. Having said that, I think we all need to keep reminding ourselves of the thread topic, and try to keep "pointless chatter" (for want of a better term) to a minimum

 

There is a post on the Race Department forum that mentions a McLaren 675LT and Ferrari 430 for Assetto Corsa. Are these "legal" mods (as in, not ripped content from other race games)?

 

Almost certainly a Forza rip, and generally just low effort trash as usual. The model isn't close to Kunos standards, the textures are almost non-existent, physics are highly optimistic and ripped from random Kunos cars (488 Turbo's on that McLaren, anyone?). No LODs, no proper colliders, just the usual affair really.

There are exceptions of course, but I really see no point looking for quality mods that are not hosted on RD. Not worth the space they take up on the hard drive IMO.
Anything scratch made will be clear (WIP shots, progress thread etc). Otherwise avoid it, no point encouraging ripped mods, they already get more attention than they deserve.
