1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I have similar feelings about the GTR and older sports cars. GTR is a technical marvel but the S2000 was both more challenging and more fun. The running costs were so low too. I started my track journey in an MX5 so I have fond memories of that little car, it bit me a few times too and learning where the limit was, for me, at lower speeds was a good idea. The Caterham and alikes with no driver aids have always provided the biggest thrill for me. Occasionally getting very wet is a downside I can live with.

On a serious note........the Porsche 718 Spyder RS60. What a lovely little car this is to drive. It looks great, it sounds great, and it handles really nicely. Slides seem to be very controllable (which is always a nice feeling when you are racing), so I am looking forward to some decent online action in this car in the near future.

After that enjoyable run, I decided to test the 718 Cayman S again @ Vallelunga Club. This car proved to be quite a tricky challenge for me at this short track when it was first released, and that has not changed with the 1.10 update. I keep thinking that it should be quicker than it is, but I suspect that my lack of confidence when driving the car is holding me back. It just seems to "twitch" a bit too much, which keeps me constantly on edge. I have made some setup tweaks that have improved the situation a bit, but my lap times are still slower than I think they should be.....

The managed to write small little snippet in ui_car.json for f138 and sf15t to be raced only against each other.

Maybe it wouldn't be that complex to code only with street or semislicks tyre option

Yeah, that makes sense. My lap times aren't terribly consistent or very good—or you could say the "the within car variation" is greater than the "between car variation," to put it in quasi-scientific terms. :) I was really wondering whether the PDK would make me faster in the Boxster S than the Cayman S.

I'm always slower with TC off. I stink a throttle control and counter-steering, so I end up babying cars to avoid oversteer. If I need to push, I need to have TC.
Yeah, it's pretty great. Though, like the Boxster S (and everything else), I didn't get a chance to use it much last night. I also haven't tried the 1.10 version of the Carrera S—I saw a thread here saying it was much improved.

Oh, that's a good point. Should have clarified I drove the Boxster with the H-gate. That might have been why you were quicker with the Boxster than I was, comparatively. I was not at all 'fast-shifting'(no throttle lift) with either car and never tried the PDK Boxster.

For me, I'm learning it really depends on the car. I certainly feel like I'm 'pushing' harder with TC in the Boxster and Cayman, but my times aren't actually better. The power cut in slow corners really is quite dramatic and turning TC off makes a significant different so long as you can manage the car balance through them. I'm not a master drifter/counter-steerer either, trust me. Far from it.

Interesting, I'll have to check that out, too.

But my time in the Boxster S was 6 tenths slower than the manual Cayman S. So you've got me beat, actually. :)
For whatever it's worth, in Gran Turismo 6, I'd gotten to the point where I was no faster—maybe slower?—with TC on than with TC off in some cars. Especially AWD ones or race cars that didn't have an insane amount of HP.

In this game, though? Turning off the TC usually doesn't go well for me. :) I need to put in some time with it, because it's a skill I ought to have. But if I'm just hopping into a car to drive a few laps (which is mostly what I do in AC), I use whatever the factory settings are. So TC on for new cars, TC off for old ones.

Unless it's the 917. That thing's so insane that, on the rare occasion when I drive it, I not only force TC on but I put the stability control on, too. :)

I've heard a similar sentiment here from many people, so you're not alone. Maybe I'm just especially bad at managing the throttle on cars with TC off. :)

  15. I am going to run the little test again, but I think the gears aren't quite as suited for Magione as the H-patterns. (will probably run a half second quicker in the PDK now...LOL)

Maybe some of the Porsche/hystoric car specialists are around here and can explain to me what this cable in the front fender of the 718 Spyder does. I assume that if you pull it, the lever in the bonnet will turn, but then: what does that do? And if I've got your attention, theres a button on the dash a bit more to the right that's labeled "Lima". My german isnt bad, but I can't translate that... Does it plot a course for Peru?

I shouldn't start talking about driving the car, I would never stop. It's just fantastic :).

Ah right, right. Yea, my lap might have just been better than yours. I was reasonably happy with it. Still, I think the two cars are definitely ideally matched if you wanted to find some good competition for one or the other.

That's GT though, man. In both that and Forza Motorsport, I was pretty much always faster with TC off. Both had forgiving enough physics that TC really just got in the way of feeling the limits of the cars.

And you're right, AC is a different beast. Whereas I used to play those games with TC off as a rule, I play AC with both TC and ABS on 'factory' settings. But I recently dedicated a button on my wheel to changing the TC because I've been figuring out that having TC on is not always the fastest way round a track. I'm telling you man, give it a go with these two cars. They're harder to drive, but you can really get around those slower corners better and get the power down easier out of the corners. Maybe you're not the best at throttle modulation, but it's a good time to practice it.

I think the most difficult part isn't necessarily the throttle application, it's managing the balance between steering and throttle. You're going round a corner and you're coming off the apex and have to start thinking about getting back on the power again, but your wheel is still rotated a fair bit. You need to bring in the throttle as you center out the steering, but this is way easier said than done. Like, as a 100% grip factor, you want to manage both that they always equal 100%, so 100% steering, 0% power at the apex(more or less), but then 80% steering lock/20% throttle and *gradually* managing that to 50/50 and then to 25/75 and then to full power. It's very easy to lose time by like being at 30% lock but still only having something like 30% throttle going on, when ideally you could have up to 70%, but are just being too cautious. In a straight line, I dont find throttle modulation too difficult, it's just dealing with that and winding off the steering that I think it gets really tricky.
