Green Hell Trackday & MultiClassics Server

Thanks for taking the time to organize this series, Berniyh. It's a good concept, just need more people willing to book the hour long race time. Anything that adds more dimension to the game is of interest to all racers...the longer race time creates several unique challenges that we don't see in sprint races. Keeping the car healthy (gearbox and engine!) and keeping a constant race focus was rewarded by getting the increased grip in the latter stages of the race. Very challenging and good fun. Thanks again.

 

Green Hell Trackday is back and will stay for a while. Racing will now be done on a second server (currently called Racing Legends).

Since the server was mostly empty for the last few weeks, I thought we could do something a bit differently for the moment being.
So I set up a "Mountain Cruise" server instead at the today updated Takigahara Mountain Pass.

Well I've tried to, but I can't get in since I don't have R2R pack

However, that mountain pass looks absolutely horrible... It has like 15 hairpins more than there should be at most in a 4,3km track...

But then again, opinions are like *****les and so forth and why do I even care when I can't get in anyway

 

I can remove the Audi TT and the Celica for tomorrow if you'd like.

And the hairpins are great fun. Some of them are so narrow that you really have to through the car around (unless it's the Honda, of course ).
Driving e.g. the 911 RSR on such a road is a great exercise and if you master it, it will help you driving the car on many other tracks as well.

 

Oh, no need to make changes just for me, especially for that current track, though if you didn't have R2R cars in the list when you return to the Green Hell, I certainly wouldn't mind Though if I'm making wishes, might as well ask for a Lotus Exige Scura to be in the list ^_^ (like 80% of my driving in AC is taking the Scura on The Ring, so with it I might not be a complete liability on the road )

I can certainly live with a few hairpins on tracks, but those back to back (to back) hairpins are very 'meh' in my opinion... You go through a hairpin at walking pace, glance longingly at the accelerator before the next one comes up a 100m later and then you get to do it a yet again! ...so, um, "yay" ?
Obviously from a IRL perspective that kind of stuff is necessary in the mountains, but they don't make for good driving roads.. though again, that's just IMHO and to each their own.

For drifters hairpins are probably nice... but... you know... I'm with May on that one

 

Sure, we can use the Scura next time.
I wouldn't mind removing the TT from the list, but the Celica should be fun on this track, so I'd rather keep it.

Except that you don't do it that way. Waaaaaay too much time loss.

I hope I find the time this evening to make a video for the RSR that'll show you how to do it.

Edit: always feel free to make requests for this server.
There isn't too much traffic currently, so we can always try new/different stuff, hence the change to the mountain pass.

 

Love the idea of a mountain road thing, really enjoyed the runs we have done on "roads" in the past.

Tried Takigahara.

To be fair it's hardly enjoyable in its current state (imho).
Sticky guard-rails sucking you into oblivion, low poly track mesh with overall unpredictable grip ( final part of te track is terrible grip-wise ) mean almost no fun for me.
Also it's so narrow, definetely not for me

 

It's indeed a bit narrow, but that's not a big deal, could live with that.

However, as LeiF pointed out, there are some grid spots which are really buggy, had that in the Miura as well.
Since the Escort is quite high up the list, it wouldn't help either to reduce the number of cars.

So for tomorrow I'm going to drop this track again and we'll move on to a different one. Or back to Nordschleife. Not sure yet.

Game crashes when I try to join

Tried couple different servers, they worked. Tried Tajo in offline, that worked. Tried verifying files, but that didn't help.

Tried the original launcher instead of CM, and that doesn't even let me join the server because apparently I don't have the track despite downloading and installing it and CM agreeing that I have it. Ô_o

Looking into it a bit, the server lists the track as "tajo" and in AC track list it's listed as "Alto Tajo Poveda > Taravilla" or "Alto Tajo Traffic", track folder is called "tajo" though.

Me is confused, hulp?

 

My game crashes too.

My wheel goes haywire for a moment and then I'm back to Windows.

I may have found the issue.
This layout says 1 pit in the discription and won't allow AI opponent.

 

The 8 pit version is the first version on RD released in Feb. 2017.
Click on the version history to DL and install it.

With that version I can join the server.
