Planning a new system

Turn off anti-alias and depth of field. in VR sets these make the image just additionally blurry, I found. True for all games.

 

Just tried no AA and no go, there’s shimmering everywhere on all the edges, looks horrible. Couldn’t really tell much difference between depth of field quality off or max

 

It's true that supersampling is superior to antialiasing, but I can't imagine being able to run it high enough to turn off AA completely, even with a 1080Ti.

 

I mean VR, not the image on a monitor screen. Have it on if playing on screen, have it off in headset. The latter already is more blurried than monitor images anyway. Having AA on means that the image blurries even earlier when you look at the distance. The shimmering of textures in the close vicinity I do not see on VR anyway, it is too blurried anyway.

For the same reason i do not care anymore to use individually fine-tuned PPF with fine nuances in sky colour and so forth. In VR you simply do not notice differences you would notice on a screen. On my old rig, on monitore, I used Natural Weather mod, naturla settings. I now just use Kunos default, "natural".

 

I do mean VR, only race in VR. No AA looked terrible. Had a quick look around and it seems people recommend actually turning AA up for clarity, aparently using up to 8x by modifying the ini file

 

I agree, much prefer AA even in VR.

 

You guys are right, I messed up my memory there. Actually, without AA ther eindeed is shimmering - and maximum AA gives excessive blurriness. Pick a medium setting, or just have it merely "on". I use 4x in AC now, which is the medium setting.
