1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

This would be a shame if attention that is really required to polish up and finish the PC version, is diverted to PS4.

So why are Call of Duty, the Halo bundle, and Destiny the three biggest games on consoles at the moment?

That's it then, I will be disappointed whenever anyone on the forum doesn't call it pCats from now on :D

A PS4 conversion would cause Kunos more headache than it's worth, even just from the masses of retarded console casuals pissing and moaning "This game sux! Driving is harrrrd! Physics are so unrealistic, I keep crashing!" Heck, half of the Steam AC forum posts are exactly this, imagine the backlash from the console crowd. It would be a marketing/PR nightmare.

    And, as we all know:

AC needs more then good gamepad support to be succesful on consoles, it's differnt market entirely
people won't be fixing things for themselves

I don't see this being a goer, I'd be surprised if it was anything more than preparatory work. The console and PC market are just so different.

99% of console punters would be extremely confused by the lack of actual game present in AC...

Economically it's a logical consequense to render new sources accessible.

So, a bit more then double the potential consumers on console then on PC. Thats a sweet cake!

But as a gamer I have mixed feelings about it and what consequences it may have for the Game itself because of the following:

Well it's only a small diff some will say, but its an illusion. If you look deeper at the Titan<>PS4 points you will see that the Flops of a PC GPU is 3x higher that a console GPU. And the gap will raise within the lifetime (~5 yrs) of the current console versions.

Its similar for CPUs which is responsible for the physics.

Well, I've always been a console gamer and I don't get why we are so criticized (not refering to someone in particular), programmers need to develop a game for a platform that's the same for milion of people, this means that there are more chances to have a better product. On pc there are many differences from a pc to another pc that makes a game work good for someone and bad for someone else, so I'd be glad to buy assetto corsa also on PS 4

I think criticism mostly goes towards tendency to simplify games on consoles.. Whether it was due HW insufficiency or low standards of average players. Or just due nature of console gaming - sit on couch and have easy fun without bothering with over complicated settings.
...and yes unified hw has lots of pros if it is not limitation (like last gen in second half of its life) but one big con... You have only what you get.. Don't like 30 fps? To bad.. You don't like boom, blur or hdr effect...sorry, etc..

No no, I was not criticizin' console or even console players. I have two consoles and have a lot of fun playing games on my boxes too.
It depends on the game concept, there are games that makes more fun on a box and there are other that fits perfect for PCs.

I'm with @ouvert that the common sentiment is (not always true) that console products going towards simplification. That would be totally ok if would be its own product or fork, but if it would be a 1:1 port I would have some reservations about the back coupling effects it may have for the PC version.

This being on the Ps4 can only help the PC version, would never have to dumb down the PC version while getting all the console trinkets and refinement.

If they don't do a more complete job on the PS4 they would get slaughtered and Kunos know this, so its a win win.

  12. I would prefer to see Kunos concentrate on the PC version. Developing a PS4 version would divert funds and resources away from the PC version (unless a completely separate development team is assigned the task). Selfish? Maybe, but I am not interested in consoles.

I see absolutely nothing positive with a PS4 port for the current AC PC user. That is unless the PS4 crowd can race online MP with PC users, but I am sure that's not even feasible or at least highly unlikely.

I am getting disappointed with the vision of the people running this whole thing. I understand that this isn't an official announcement and just speculation, but finish the PC version before getting ahead of yourself by expanding to other systems. They will have a lot more game and DLC sales if they polish up what they have before expanding. For instance, why buy an Endurance track when the game really doesn't support endurance racing.

I would buy it on xbox one for my son (he has a tx wheel) in a heartbeat but no ps4 :(

Also career would need to be MASSIVELY overhauled on the order of Forza or some such...

I think the.. cats at Vallelunga have been already thinking this through. I would say there are a few factors at play.
Let's say that, at the two extremes, we have two kind of racing games fans, the casual players and the hardcore simmers (and then the humans like me in between :D). The casual players want one thing: quick fun. The hardcore simmers, as they commit energies, time and money on the racing sim, want the sim to be "serious" as well. In a word, let's say they want fidelity. Ok, fun and fidelity. If we break down the two, we have:
    • Fun:
      1. Rewarding story (single player career where you get awards when winning, you unlock cars, you progress or whatever)
      2. Rewarding driving experience (I can have 30 mins of fun just throwing the car around, no strings attached)
      3. Easy interface (easy to set up, easy to use)
      4. Overall "cool" package (videos, music, etc etc)
    • Fidelity:
      1. Good physics, FFB
      2. Cars and tracks as close as possible to the real ones, both in the looks and in the technical details.
      3. Other simulation parameters (track surface changes, weather changes, brake fade, etc etc etc)
      4. Racing features (rules for different categories, MP server features)
So, how does AC fare on these? (you can have fun rating the other sims if you like..)
I would say that on the "fun" side AC nails the driving experience and the interface, but does not have a rewarding enough story, and the package doesn't shout "I'm cool".
On the "fidelity" side, AC shines in physics/FFB (awesome), fidelity of cars and tracks (official licenses! Laser scan!), has average other simulation parameters, and average racing features.
Overall, 4 out of 8 things are nailed. Really not bad for a small team and a complex product. (racing sims are complex!)

So, if they decide to go to PS4, well they have a few things done right, plus they have invested in licenses from all the big names and many amazing tracks, plus I suspect that the whole game engine is not that CPU/graphics-hungry so they wouldn't have to dumb it down for consoles etc. Well, that's a few good reasons to port the game to PS4. Who doesn't want more customers if you don't need to spend too much to get them?

    BUT.

If the game does not match at least 6 out of 8 things, let's say for example 3 of the "fun" factors and 3 of the "fidelity" factors, then it may end up a mixed bag both on consoles and on PCs. So, it's not about being a "purist" (no! dear god don't bring PS players on our servers!). It's about keeping the game successful. I would say first improve the "fidelity" and/or the "fun" or a combination, then go compete. I absolutely love the driving experience, the cars and tracks. Top notch. The next step is to excel as a sim or as a game. Both ok for me :D

The last iteration of Forza had nothing in the way of career. A step back imo, gone were the unlocks, the endurance races and challenges ( stock car racing, classic car racing and bhp restricted effects. )
